Many animals can be hunted inThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which can then be turned into meat to consume or cook with other ingredients for a meal. Preparing different recipes is great since they recover more than a small percentage of Link’s health, unlikeApplesor mushrooms would.

For example, putting mushrooms and meat into a bowl can makeMushroom Skewers. This will replenish a couple of hearts, versus uncooked mushrooms or apples will only recover less than half a heart. Players must hunt some animals to make Mushroom Skewer or other meals. This guide will share everything to know about hunting different creatures inTears of the Kingdom.

How To Hunt Foxes (And Other Animals)

The first step to hunting an animal will be a bow and some arrows—players should already have these by the time they leave Sky Island at the beginning of the game. Arrows aren’t something that can easily be found once leaving the island in the sky—at least until a store is found—so it is smart to try and use them sparingly throughout the game, like using them to start fires to defeat enemies or hunt animals.

A variety of animals can be hunted inTears of the Kingdom, including but not limited to foxes, bears, and different pigs. While walking through Hyrule, these creatures can be seen through fields of grass, usually one by itself. With horses, they will be gathered aroundone another and trigger the rest to run if they see Link. However, horses cannot be hunted inTears of the Kingdombut is rather an example of how each animal works differently.

When wanting to hunt an animal, especially a tricky fox, it is best to stay a short distance away and begin to aim the arrow in the direction of the creature. For some animals—depending on where they’re shot—it might take another arrow to fully kill them. Players will need to be ready to act quickly as foxes and other animals will begin running away once hit the first time.

After an animal has been killed, it will immediately turn into an obtainable meat item. Link can run over to the item and pick it up just like any other item. The meat will be raw, so it will need to be worked in order for Link to eat it and gain health from it. Meat can be mixed with many otheringredients to create other recipesinTears of the Kingdom.
