Summary
AZelda: Tears of the Kingdomplayer discovers a random spot on the map that’s so hot that it can set Link on fire. This spot on the map may end up being one of the more mysterious areas inThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
One of the aspects that makeTears of the Kingdomdifferent from other games in the classic series is how temperature works. In extremely hot areas of the map, such as the Gerudo Valley Region, Link’s health will slowly deplete until he dies. To avoid this, Link has to eat certain foods and wear specific armor to stay cool. In some areas of the map, it’s not just hot; it’s completely unbearable. The caves in theDeath Mountain region inTears of the Kingdomare so hot that Link will catch on fire without Flambreaker Armor or special elixirs.

Reddit user Alexanderhyperbeam discovered an area on the map that’s just as hot as the caves near Death Mountain while being nowhere near them. In the posted clip, Link can be seen in theFaron region of Hyrulewalking over a random spot in a field. After a few seconds, Link’s body temperature starts to rise and eventually sets him on fire. Even the grass around him catches on fire. This is perfectly normal in areas near lava, but it makes no sense in a random field.
Another aspect of the temperature inTears of the Kingdomis cooking. In extremely hot areas, dropping meat on the ground will cook it, making it relish more health when eaten. In the clip, Link is seen attempting to cook raw meat in the mysterious hot spot, but nothing happens. It seems that this small area only affects Link and not anything else. Unfortunately, there’s no other experimentation in the short clip. For example, testing if the area would light a pile of wood on fire, or if Link remains unaffected if wearing Flamebreaker armor.
With a map as big asTears of the Kingdom’s, it’s only natural to have strange glitches here or there. It’s even possible that this isn’t the only mysterious hot spot in Hyrule. For players who would like to test out this mysterious hot spot for themselves, the exact coordinates are 0903, -2696, and 0010. It may be best to test out this area sooner than later, as the nextTears of the Kingdomupdatemay patch out this strange glitch.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomis available on Nintendo Switch.
