Some content creators have gotten to playWWE 2K24ahead of its March 8 launch date, and are sharing footage of some of the game’s highly-anticipated match types in action. This includes YouTube user Revelleution, who recently posted videos ofWWE 2K24’spreviously announced Casket and Special Guest Referee matches. First comes a Casket Match between Isla Dawn and Tiffany Stratton, which starts with a special animation of the titular casket being wheeled to the ring and a reading of the contest’s rules. During the match, each wrestler attempts to trap their foe by knocking them into the open coffin and closing the lid with a button-pressing minigame.

Revelleution also posted a video ofWWE 2K24’s Special Guest Referee match type, which sees Dakota Kai officiate a contest between Bayley and Iyo Sky – itself a preview for when these former Damage CTRL teammates face off against each otherat this year’s WrestleMania. During this match, the player controls Dakota Kai as she counts pinfalls and ring-out counts, checks for submissions, and even disqualifies competitors who break the rules in front of her. The player can switch over to attacking the two participants instead with a button press, but they can find themselves thrown out of the match if they don’t properly perform their duties.

Special Guest Referee matches haven’t been availablein a WWE gamesinceWWE 2K14, andWWE 2K15was the last time that fans could play a Casket Match.WWE 2K24is bringing back both popular match types, adding even more variety alongside its 40 Years of WrestleMania Showcase and enhanced MyGM and MyFaction modes.
