Echoes are one of the pillars that make up the character building process inWuthering Waves. These are essentially the game’s version of item sets that provide stat bonuses to characters, making them significantly stronger when properly equipped.
Like the majority of gacha games, farming Echoes involves plenty of luck and patience, but if you want to exploreWuthering Waves’post-apocalyptic world, you’re in for a good time. Here are all the ways to farm Echoes as well as the EXP materials needed to level them up.
Updated July 24, 2025 by Marc Santos:A lot has changed since the 1.0 release of Wuthering Waves, but farming for Echoes and Echo EXP has remained more or less the same. For the most part, players will still need to rely on open-world farming and Tacet Fields to get Echoes and EXP items. However, we’ve updated this guide to include a section on how to farm Boss Echoes as well as some important bits of information related to them, as they are often the most impactful out of all other Echoes for Resonators.
How To Farm Echoes In Wuthering Waves
There are two main ways to get echoes in the game:hunting in the open world, or farming Tacet Fields. The first is great for target farming specific Echoes, while the other provides a more convenient way to complete Echo Sets and earn materials for Echo EXP. We’ll be covering both in this guide.
If you’re wondering how to get gold Echoes inWuthering Waves, you’ll first need to get your Data Bank to level 15. Then, all Echoes will have a chance to drop as gold versions of themselves.
Open-World Echo Farming
The best way new players can get Echoes is to hunt monsters in the open world. You can either explore on your own and beat every non-human enemy you see, or you can target-farm specific ones. You can find monsters in the world by going to the Echo Gallery of your Data Bank.
All Tacet Discord enemies have a 20% base chance of leaving an Echo behind when defeated, and you’re able to keep hunt them down until there’s nothing left to hunt on your world. Keep in mind that there isan Echo Pity system inWuthering Wavesthat will help you get the Echoes you want more often.
Farming Echoes in the open world is recommended only for new players. Early on, Waveplates are better spent on getting character and weapon materials than Echoes.
Tacet Fields
Once you make enough progress through the main quest line,you’ll eventually unlock Tacet Fields, which are this game’s version ofArtifact Domains fromGenshin Impact.Farming Tacet Fields is more convenient than open-world hunting because it won’t have you running from one place to another. Also, each Tacet Field drops Echoes from two specific sets, which is great if you really want to get a full Rejuvenating Glow or Moonlit Clouds set as soon as possible.
The downside to Tacet Field farming is, of course, the Waveplate consumption.You need 60 Waveplates to collect your rewards, which means you’ll only be able to farm four fields a day by default. On the bright side, Tacet Fields also drop Echo EXP materials, allowing you to level up the Echoes you get.
Boss Echoes
Thefirst 15 Overlord and Calamity-class bosses(open world and weekly bosses) that you defeat every week havesignificantly increased Echo drop rates, and you don’t need to spend any Waveplates to claim them either. Simply walk up to a boss you want to farm and fight it. All Overlord-class bosses respawn on a two-minute timer, and they’ll do so regardless of where you are or what you’re doing.
When farming Boss Echoes, we strongly recommend farming two bosses at a time:one for your DPS characters, and one for your supports. TheBell-borne Geochelone boss inWuWais great for building support units since it drops both Rejuvenating Glow and Moonlit Clouds sets, plus its active skill is great for boosting your team’s defenses.
Wuthering Waves Echo EXP Farm
Tacet Field farmingis going to be your main way of farming Echo EXP inWuWa. You can challenge them as many times as you’d like per day, though you can only get their rewards if you spend Waveplates on them. Enemies that spawn during Tacet Field challenges will not drop Echoes, and non-leveled Echoes will not give any EXP either.
If you’re all out of Waveplates, the next best thing you can do is to purchase Echo EXP materials from stores, including:
The currency needed to purchase things in the Points Shop can beearned by completing Tower of Adversity and Tactical Hologram challenges. Meanwhile, the currency forthe Depths of Illusive Realmsstore is earned by simply completing any difficulty of that activity. As for the Jinzhou Souvenir Store, you’ll needWood Textured Shards, a type of currency obtained by opening chests and Tidal Heritages, or completing challenges. The same goes for Monnaie for the Averardo Bank in Ragunna.
These secondary sources are limited, however. Points Shop items refresh monthly, and it’s unsure if the Illusive Realms reward store will refresh. Souvenir Store items are likely finite, and once you buy all of them, you might not have anything left to purchase. Events are often limited too, but since there are always a couple of them every patch, they’re going to be your second-best bet at consistent source of Echo EXP items (among other things).
