The Wrath of the Lich King originally was released in 2008, and now that the game has a legacy version with theWorld of Warcraft: Classicthe expansion has dropped for a second time. The addition of new content to a video game can feel overwhelming, especially if it’s an MMORPG that already takes place in a whole other world, andWotLKhad more going on than just a whole new continent.

Players had to keep track of changes in professions, class talents, and quality of life differences that affected storage and character transfers. A character doesn’t have to be a certain level to hop on a boat or a zeppelin and ride to Northrend, and not all the changes in the game took place on the new continent. For new and returning players alike, there are a few activities everyone should have asa priority inThe Wrath of the Lich King.
6Check Your Talents
Most of the suggestions here aren’t listed in any order, but this is an issue every player wants to resolve the moment they log into the server. The only exceptions would be those starting a new character or grinding one that’s still below level ten.

Skills and talents changed significantly for all classeswith theWotLKexpansion. Some were removed entirely, others became passive abilities, and some were empowered or nerfed, depending on the role of the class or the other talent trees. This is also the expansion that introduced the concept of dual-specs, and it’s not just a handy option for tanks and healers.
5Find A Profession Trainer
First Aid, Cooking, and Fishing are three secondary professions in WoW that all players have,while the primary professionsvary to include more specialized careers like Tailoring and Alchemy. All of these skills were maxed out at 350 inThe Burning Crusadeand with the new expansion, the caps have been raised to 450.
Characters have to visit a trainer to raise their skill level before they can start to level or learn new recipes, and all it takes to accomplish this is a little traveling. The first cities that players visit in Northrend, the ones connected to their major cities, all have the relevant trainers. As exciting as Northrend might be,rein in that ground mountand visit them before heading into the wilderness.
4Roll A Death Knight
For no other reason than to experience the lore, legend, and general environment of the legions of the Scourge and Arthas Menethil, even if it’s not a character intended for endgame or long-term use. They have their own unique starting area that includes parts of Azeroth not open to other players or classes, and the quest lines reveal some of the Lich King’s backstory.

3Exchange Your Marks Of Honor
Theplayer-versus-player and battleground systemsalso went through some profound changes in theWotLKexpansion. Instead of getting marks from each battleground, players just get honor points instead. That doesn’t mean that the marks they had before will be worthless or disappear, however, it just means the way they are stored and used will be changed.
The marks each player has will now be visible on the Currency tab of their character sheet, and they can trade them for the new Honor points. This also frees up a storage slot, which is really the greatest gift of all when it comes to MMORPGs.
2Follow The Lore To Northrend
The factions of both Alliance and Horde have different reasons for traveling to Northrend, but their ultimate goal is the same, defeating the Lich King once and for all. Alliance characters, especially those of the Human race, might see it as a chance to redeem their fallen prince and restore something of the kingdom he left behind.

Their Queen, the former Ranger Sylvanas Windrunner, has a personal score to settle with the Lich King, and there are dissidents in the Forsaken ranks that want to take her thirst for revenge even further than that.
1Update Your Add-ons
This is a bigger issue for some players than others, and in 2008 it was a moot point for a lot of players, but today there are volumes of add-ons for everything from Action Bars to Raiding Rotations. Depending on what kind of software each player is using, not all add-ons update automatically. They either won’t work at all, send faulty information, or fail at crucial times.
Expansion day is one of those times when add-ons need to be updated constantly, even if not prompted, or even manually. Finding out the hard way that Deadly Boss Mods isn’t working isn’t a good way to start the new expansion.
