Summary

SomeWorld of Warcraftfans think the apparent August 19 end date forWoW Remix: Mists of Pandariamight coincide with the beginning ofThe War WithinPre-Patch event. If this speculation proves to be true,World of Warcraftplayers may be able to narrow in on a release window forThe War Withinitself.

Recently,World of Warcraftannounced the release dates for Patch 10.2.7, Dark Heart, and the subsequentMists of Pandariaevent that comes with it. The final patch ofDragonflightdrops on May 7, withWoW Remix: Mists of Pandariastarting just over a week later on May 16. However, some fans think this end date might be a huge hint atWorld of Warcraft’s plans. The roadmap saidThe War WithinPre-Patch event would take place this summer, with the launch itself in late summer or early autumn. IftheWoW: The War Withinalphacalendar is accurate, there is reason to suspect theMists of Pandariaevent ending on August 19 means something big is happening on August 20 – likely the Pre-Patch event forThe War Within.

3–4 months before expansion launch

2–3 months into beta

Late Summer or Early Autumn

4–6 weeks after Pre-Patch

Autumn, with the 20th Anniversary

~8 weeks after launch

Late November

While purely speculative, this release schedule would line up withWorld of Warcraft’s recent content cadence, which aimed to release a new update approximately every eight weeks. There were two months between 10.2.5 and 10.2.6, as well as 10.2.6 and 10.2.7. An August 20 Pre-Patch would place it three months after the last update, but assuming it lasts for about four to six weeks – the average formost Pre-Patch events inWorld of Warcraft–The War Withinitself may launch in mid-September; four months after Patch 10.2.7, and about eight weeks beforeWorld of Warcraft’s 20th anniversary.

By this projection, the beta forThe War Withinwould start somewhere in June, as they typically run for three to four months before launch. The alpha is still ongoing in the meantime, butWorld of Warcraftplayers can opt into the betaon the official site now.

It is important to note that most of these numbers have not been confirmed byWorld of Warcraftyet, so official releases could be earlier or later than these estimations. Either way, the next several months are going to bebusy and exciting forWorld of Warcraftfans.
