A new trailer and a few screenshots have been released for the upcoming Japanese horror gameWhite Day 2: The Flower That Tells Lies, the official sequel to 2001’sWhite Day: A Labyrinth Named School, which was remade in 2015.Originally announced to be in development in 2021,The Flower That Tells Liespromises an even betterhorror game experiencethanA Labyrinth Named School.
The Flower That Tells Lieswill be a remake of the original sequel,White Day 2: Swan Song,which, to add to the confusion, serves as a prequel in the timeline of events begun in the first game. If it follows the trend established by its predecessor, the remake ofThe Flower That Tells Liesmay offer graphical improvements, additional story segments, and content that was cut from the originalindie game.

When it was shared in March 2021, the first teaser trailer forWhite Day 2: The Flower That Tells Liesserved as an announcement of the game. Until now, there had been only one other trailer, released shortly after the first, for theJapanese horror game. Now, nearly a year later, a third trailer for the game has been uploaded by developer Rootnstudio. It serves mainly as a setup for the story and provides a glimpse of the gameplay, such as puzzles. Those who played the original game will recognize many of the scenes and characters in the trailer.
For those unfamiliar, White Day is a holiday that got its start in Japan. It takes place on March 14, one month after Valentine’s Day, and has traditionally served as an opportunity for men to give chocolates and other tokens to the women who gave them a similar gift on February 14. Thefirst gametakes place on the eve of White Day,when a Yeondu High School student sneaks in after hours to leave some candy for his crush. Not surprisingly, all kinds of things go wrong when he attempts to carry out this simple plan.
In addition to encountering some incrediblycreepy ghosts duringWhite Day: A Labyrinth Named School, the characters uncover a few unsettling events that took place on school grounds, one of which was a series of student deaths that resulted in Yeondu temporarily being closed down.White Day 2: Swan Song,and presumably its remakeThe Flower That Tells Lies,recounts the adventures of six students who sneak into the school after it has been shut down to find out what really happened. Unfortunately, they find themselves embroiled in a similar life-threatening situation and discover that a mysterious song provides a clue about how to survive.
