It was recently announced that anIron Mangame is in development from EA Motive. Considering how thoughtfully and faithfully crafted theDead Spaceremake looks to be, it seems great that its next endeavor will be aMarvelgame. ItsIron Mangame is untitled with only a darkened promotional image to its name at the moment, but its announcement did confirm that EA andMarvelhave entered into a collaboration that will reap several other Marvel games in the future.

This places a ton of emphasis onEA Motive’sIron Mangameas the foundation for what could be a franchise of installments, even if they do not all belong under a single canonical banner. It is currently unknown if any of EA and Marvel’s several planned games are in development yet, but there must be ideas set in place for which characters EA would like to design and depict. However, a few characters instantly come to mind when considering Marvel characters that deserve their own standalone games.

Black Panther

The most likely of the bunch isa standaloneBlack Panthergame, if only because such a game has already received a notable rumor from an industry insider. Jeff Grubb broke the news a while back now, and it was surprising to then hear the announcement of Skydance’s ensemble Marvel game, which also features Black Panther as a playable protagonist.

As such, Black Panther seems to be a hot commodity in the gaming sphere at the moment. If true, Black Panther’s standalone game would be a great installment for EA as one of its several upcoming Marvel games. Because Marvel games will reportedly have their own individual canons, it would be interesting to see howSkydance’s Black Panthercompares to EA’s if the rumors are ever officially confirmed.

Hawkeye

Further, it would be terrific to see an action-adventure experience with shooter mechanics in aHawkeyegame. EA has a seasoned history of popular shooter titles with a ton of character, and Hawkeye would present exciting mechanics with myriad trick arrows.

The added utility of aHawkeyegame is that its title could refer to either Clint Barton, Kate Bishop, or the pair together. Having both Clint and Kate could lend aHawkeyegame to co-op gameplay, where both archers could team up throughout the game. Rather, some players may simply want to choose their preferred Hawkeye.Marvel’s Avengers’ Clint and Katehave shown that the characters can be similar, yet still unique apart from one another in gameplay.

The only issue with aHawkeyegame may be that it would need an interesting and unique setting, and Hawkeye’s popularity as a character is not as exceptional as other Marvel characters. Still, gunplay mechanics with gamepad haptics for nocked bow strings would be excellent on current-gen.

Black Widow

Adding espionage stealth to a mixture of gunplay and acrobatics, aBlack Widowgame could beanother compelling title from EA. Again, Natasha Romanoff’s Black Widow may not be as beloved as Thor, Captain America, or Hulk, but could still offer exciting mechanics in gameplay that would deviate positively from the outer-worldly fantasy. It also makes sense for EA to choose characters who are adept at using firearms or other ranged projectiles. Besides, Black Widow deserves to share that spotlight and having her own standalone game could be Natasha’s ticket to that level of adoration.

Almost any Marvel character is on the table with regard to who EA may tackle, but Black Panther, Hawkeye, and Black Widow would make excellent choices. Either way, it is a fantastic time to be a Marvel fan with many games currently in development.
