Considering that half of 2022 is still ahead, it’s difficult to say what the future will bring. With so many new movies scheduled to premiere from June to December, either in cinemas or on streaming services, the viewers are bound to find new favorites while other movies will fly under the radar.

However, before focusing on the new movies, it’s worth turning attention to those who already premiered and didn’t get as much attention from people as they would have deserved. Not every movie can attract a wide audience and become a hit, but these movies would deserve more acclaim.
5Badman
Superhero movies are one of the most popular onesthese days, with millions of viewers rushing into the cinemas to see their favorite hero’s latest adventure. However, if someone suffers from the superhero fatigue caused by so many similar movies, the French movieBadmancould cure it as it’s refreshingly original! The movie centers on an unsuccessful actor Cédric who finally gets his presumed big break when he’s cast as the new superhero Badman. Things get much more complicated when Cédric has an accident and wakes up convinced that he’s indeed a superhero, and it’s up to him to save the world. But being a superhero in real life is much more difficult than playing one in a movie as Cédric as well as those around him are about to discover.
The movie makes fun of traditional superhero movies but does so in a gentle and intelligent way. It has the power to make the audience laugh more than once and the actors involved give strong performances. Plus, it looks like they enjoyed making the movie. Another advantage is that, unlike many superhero movies,Badmanis short. It runs for under 90 minutes, which makes it even more fast-paced and fun. With less than 500 ratings on IMDb, this is a movie that no fan of smart comedies and superhero movies should miss out on watching.

4Notre Dame On Fire
Some ofthe best movies are inspired by real events. Many people will no doubt still recall the Notre Dame fire that erupted in the iconic historical landmark just a few years back, in 2019. The French movie has almost a documentary feel to it as it captures quite faithfully what happened back then. It keeps the pace fast and the viewers intrigued as it switches between the perspectives of more characters, making it easy to see what’s going on and when.

The movie is intense, especially once the fire erupts and firemen have to fight for saving Notre Dame as well as other people’s lives. Those who want to know more about the catastrophe or just enjoy a good drama movie might enjoyNotre Dame on Fire. Currently, less than 500 people rated the movie on IMDb, easily making it one of the most underappreciated movies of 2022.
3Apollo 10½: A Space Age Childhood
Non-English movies aren’t the only ones that can struggle to attract a wider audience. Some movies are for a niche audience, and the animatedApollo 10½: A Space Age Childhoodseems to be one of them.It centers on a young boy that’s growing up in the 1960s, around the time men first set steps on the Moon. The director Richard Linklater recalls his own childhood in the movie and does so in a way that has the power to captivate the viewers, regardless of the fact whether they were alive in 1969 or not.
There aren’t that many sci-fi animated movies about young heroes which makesApollo 10½a rare story. The movie creates a strong atmosphere, the actors don’t disappoint and the animation also works. Overall, the movie deserves much more ratings than it has at the moment (less than 6 thousand on IMDb).

2The Girl From The Other Side

The Girl from the Other Sidesuggests that just because someone looks like a demon, it doesn’t mean they’re evil. Its visual side has a lot to offer, and the story can make the audience think. The movie’s not suitable for younger children who could find it confusing or scary at times but anybody else who finds their way toThe Girl from the Other Sidemight enjoy it.
1Redeeming Love
These days, it’s a common practiceto make movies based on bookssince the general belief is that those who enjoyed the book might also go and watch the movie. Yet even that doesn’t mean a movie is going to become a new hit, asRedeeming Lovewith its less than 6 thousand ratings proves. The movie tells the story of Angel (Abigail Cowen) who’s been forced to work as a prostitute ever since she was very young.
In the 19th century (the story is set in 1850), women didn’t have many rights and Angel was never the mistress of her own fate. Yet it seems like things might be changing for the better when she meets Michael (Tom Lewis). The movie is bitter at times and sweet at others, and it doesn’t spare the main heroine. That only makes Angel much more sympathetic and easy to cheer on.Redeeming Loveis an enjoyable American movie for everybody who enjoys unusual romances born out of difficult life circumstances.
