InCall of Duty: Warzone, players can purchase special Tracer Pack bundles from the in-game store that add color to their bullets and the smoke from their guns. Recently, Infinity Ward released the Purple Tracer Pack inCall of Duty: Warzone, which has proven to be especially popular, but not everyone is a fan of tracer rounds in the game.

SomeCall of Duty: Warzoneplayers have complained that tracer rounds unfairly obstruct their vision when compared to when players are using normal rounds. Reddit user hamzah10 is one such player, who pointed out that tracer rounds make it so players can “barely see” when in a firefight. They suggest thatInfinity Wardremove tracer rounds fromCall of Duty: Warzone, tone them down, or make it so their colorful effects are only visible to the players that are using them.

Other players chimed in on the post and many agreed with hamzah10’s complaints about tracer rounds inCall of Duty: Warzone. Some even put forth a theory that tracer rounds giving players an advantage was a deliberate choice on the part ofActivisionto encourage players to purchase the bundles from the store. However, there is no real evidence to back this up, and it’s more likely just an oversight on the part of the developers.

After all, it’s not likely Activision really needs to manipulateCall of Duty: Warzoneplayers into purchasing microtransactions. In Q1 2020 alone,Activision Blizzard has already made nearly $1 billion in microtransactions, so players are clearly purchasing a bunch of the cosmetic content that’s released on the store, none of which give players a competitive advantage.

However, since tracer rounds do seem to be giving players that have them an advantage, one has to imagine that something will be done to fix them sooner rather than later. If not,Call of Duty: Warzonecould be accused of being pay-to-win, which is never a good thing. However, it remains to be seen how Infinity Ward might tweak the tracer rounds to make them less unfair.

Infinity Ward releases updates forCall of Duty: Warzonefrequently, so a fix could come sooner rather than later. As it stands, the next majorWarzoneupdateshould be coming on June 3, which is whenWarzoneSeason 4will officially kick off.
