That isn’t to say that the Hashira are unlikable by default, but certain people like the Wind PIllar Saenemi Shinazugawa don’t help. Compared to him, Mitsuri is like a shining sun. And, now thatDemon Slayerseason two has finishedwith all the bombastic moments in the Entertainment District, fans should start getting ready to see more of her in season three. So, in preparation, let’s go over some of the more interesting aspects of this character that only manga fans currently know.

9She Was Originally Kyojuro Rengoku’s Tsuguko AKA His “Successor”

For anyone unaware, there is a concept introduced early on inDemon Slayercalled a “Tsuguko”. These are basically proteges or disciples of the currently active Hashira who are usually meant to take their place at some point. For example, Zenitsu isn’t a Tsuguko (or at least not considered one anymore) even thoughhe was trained to learn all the Thunder Breathing techniquesby a Hashira because the Thunder Hashira was retired at that point. But, conversely, Mitsuri was a Tsuguko as Kyojuro originally trained her with the intention of her taking his place if anything happened.

But, as can be seen when she’s introduced as the “Love Hashira”, Mitsuri didn’t stay in the Flame Style, but she and Kyojuro were still very close.

8She Started With Flame Breathing & Then Invented Her Own

As Kyojuro’s Tsuguko, Ms. Kanroji learned the Flame Breathing style first. And, as one might notice watching Kyojuro fight inDemon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train, the Flame style is heavily focused on incredibly strong, singular strikes that leave a “burning” sensation afterward. So, how did Mitsuri go from the Flame to the Love Breathing Style, one which seems to capitalize on numerous strikes instead?

Well, as it turns out, Mitsuri’s body is different from a typical human, and the Flame Breathing style worked with it, but not completely. Out of necessity, Mitsuri actually ended up inventing her own Breathing Style, the Love Style, which capitalized on her unique sword, absurd strength, and unbelievable flexibility. It’s as if she took the singular yet strong strikes of the Flame Style and simply multiplied them for her own Breathing Style, which is only possible due to her superhuman power.

7Her Muscles Are Eight Times As Dense As A Regular Person’s

To elaborate more on what exactly is so different about the Love PIllar’s body, Mitsuri was born with absurdly dense muscles. More of a blessing than a defect, Mitsuri’s muscles are eight times denser than a regular human has by default. This means that even with her slender frame, Kanroji can toss a Sumo Wrestler with ease.

Of course, there are consequences to this strength, and it alienated Mitsuri from a lot of people when she was younger. However, in general, it really just seems like a god-given superpower.

6Those Striped Socks? A Gift From Obanai

Visually, the Love Pillar looks radically different from most of the other Demon Slayer Hashira in a myriad of ways. Outside Shinobu, she’s the only one with kind eyes and a jubilant personality. But, additionally, Mitsuri’s wardrobe is different as well, with her bright green striped socks/leggings sticking out the most.

However, manga fans know the importance of these socks. They signify the adorable relationship between the Love PIllar and the Serpent Pillar, Obanai Iguro, as he gifted the socks to her. It’s never confirmed, but it’s pretty obvious that he picked green so that it would contrast the pink strings on Mitsuri’s sandals, similar to the way the green ends of her hair contrast with its pink body.

5The Insect & Love Hashira Are Great Friends

With not a lot of other women or even non-eccentric people in the Hashira, it seems like a given that the Loveand Insect (not Flower) Hashirawould become pretty close friends. Initially, this bond was a result of Shinobu letting Mitsuri know that her uniform was so revealing, an observation made because the Demon Slayer Corps' outfitter is a bit of a creep.

From there, the two of them gradually got closer and closer as friends. It’s a shame there aren’t more scenes with them together, as it really seems like the two characters would bounce off of each other fantastically.

4What An Unbelievable Appetite!

Earlier, it was mentioned that Mitsuri’s dense muscles don’t really have any “harsh” consequences, and that’s true. Other than maybe accidentally breaking something or hurting someone while not being careful, Mitsuri doesn’t have much of a tradeoff in exchange for her strength. The only other real obvious “downside” is her appetite.

Demon Slayer - Mitsuri Looking Bashful

As it turns out, Mitsuri eats about as much as two Sumo Wrestlers combined in a single day. And this isn’t her forcing herself to do so in order to retain her muscles, rather, this is how large her appetite is. Anime viewers should look forward to seeing this soon in season three since it makes for some great bonding moments between her and Tanjiro.

3Her Initial Goals Were Surprisingly Vain

When anime viewers finally get to see Ms. Kanroji’s backstory and reason for joining the Demon Slayers in the upcoming season three, they may feel a bit of atmospheric whiplash.Almost every other Hashira joined to avenge their slaughtered family, find a place where their killing skills are finally put to good use, or some other depressingly tragic tale. But, Mitsuri simply joined (originally) so she could finally find a husband/lover stronger than her.

Of course, there’s more to Mitsuri’s story, and she eventually realizes how silly this goal is in comparison to everyone else’s, but due to how much she had to hide her true self before joining the Demon Slayers, it does make total sense.

Demon Slayer - Mitsuri In A Pose That Shows Off Her Flexibility

2She’s The Only One Who Could Even Compete With Inosuke

The last little fact about Mitsuri Kanroji’s body is that she’s insanely flexible. It’s never been stated in the manga whether this supernatural flexibility is because of her dense muscles or simply some innate talent, but she has it nonetheless. It’s the primary reason why she’s able to use her whip-like sword so easily, as the flexibility allows her to swing it around without fear of cutting herself.

The only other person in the series who can give Kanroji a run for her money in terms of this flexibility, outside all those horrendously evil Demons who can twist and distort their bodies at will,is Inosuke, and frankly, he might have her beat. It’s canonical that Inosuke is flexible enough to literally move his organs around in his body (slightly), and it doesn’t seem like Kanroji even knows this is a possibility. But, she absolutely uses in combat a bit more spectacularly compared to the Mountain God himself.

Demon Slayer Things Only Manga Readers Know About Love Pillar Mitsuri Kanroji featured image

1She Doesn’t Have A “Typical” Sword

The reveal of the Love Pillar’s Nichirin Swordis one of the best parts of the Swordsmith Village arc, as it’s so absurd compared to any other weapon in the series, and that includes Gyomei’s Niichirin Ball and Chain. To be more precise, Mitsuri’s Sword is more like a sharp whip than a katana, and she actually has to fold and wrap it multiple times to get it back in the sheath. Think Ivy’s Whip from theSoul Caliburseries or even the Cane Sword fromBloodborne

The reason why her sword is like this is simply because it’s the type of weapon that makes the most out of Mitsuri’s Love Breathing Style, her unique muscle density, and her absurd flexibility.
