What is the movie about, who is the cast and crew, and when will it be released? There are a lot of things that fans of the genre should know about this new film.

The Plot
Blumhouse Television and EPIX partnered to make eight original horror movies, according toVariety, and the first was the2021 horror movieA House On The Bayou. Blumhouse and EPIX also releasedTorn Heartsearlier in 2022, a story about two young Nashville singers meeting their idol and realizing that there is more to her than meets the eye.There’s Something Wrong With The Childrenis another Blumhouse/EPIX movie.
According toVariety, the plot follows a couple named Ben and Margaret who go away for the weekend with another couple and their kids. When the children go into the forest and then come back and seem different, Ben realizes that the paranormal must be involved. This is a great premise that suggests a lot of twists and turns as Ben will likely learn more about what’s going on. It’s always fun when characters think that they’re going to have a peaceful trip and find something horrifying instead.
There’s Something Wrong With The Childrenfilmed in New Orleans and since the children spend some time in the woods, it sounds like this will be one of thebest horror movie settings. It will be fun to see how spooky and atmospheric this movie is.
The Cast
Zach Gilford is the star ofThere’s Something Wrong With The Childrenand plays Ben, the father who figures out that something is off and plays an integral role in solving the mystery. Gilford is beloved for his smart and sweet portrayal of Matt Saracen inFriday Night Lightsand has also appeared in severalMike Flanagan Netflix series. Most recently, Gilford played Mark, one of thebest characters inThe Midnight Club.
Gilford also played Riley Flynn inFlanagan’s Netflix showMidnight Mass, a young man who comes back to his hometown after an awful and scary tragedy. Riley gets swept up in the strange occurrences in Crockett Island and Gilford gives an excellent and emotional performance. It will be great to see what he brings to the role of Ben.
Alisha Wanwright plays Ben’s wife Michelle and previously played Nicole Warren in the TV seriesRaising Dion, which aired from 2019 to 2022.
Rounding out the cast are David Mattle and Briella Guiza as the kids and Carlos Santos and Amanda Crew as the other couple, Thomas and Ellie. Santas previously starred inGentefiedand Crew played Monica Hall inSilicon Valley. Mattle played Paxton on the Hulu seriesLife & Bethand Guiza played Antonia Del Toro in one episode of theAmazon Prime Video seriesThe Terminal List.
The Crew
Roxanne Benjamin is the director ofThere’s Something Wrong With The Childrenand has a background in TV, particularly when it comes to directing episodes of shows focused on teenage characters in supernatural or freaky situations. Benjamin directed a few episodes of the Peacock dramaOne Of Us Is Lyingalong withteen horror seriesNancy Drew,The Chilling Adventures of SabrinaandRiverdale.Since these TV shows have perfectly creepy settings and a great atmosphere, it will be great to see this upcoming movie.
Benjamin also directed some episodes of HBO Max’sPretty Little Liars: Original Sin, which is a great remakeand which was recently renewed for a second season.
T.J. Cimfel and David Write co-wrote the screenplay and the two previously wroteIntruders, a 2015 home invasion horror film about Anna Rook (Beth Riesgraf), who has agoraphobia. They also wrote the “Vicious Circles” segment ofV/H/S Viral,which was released in 2014.
The Release Date
There’s Something Wrong With The Childrenwill be released on January 17th 2023 by EPIX and Paramount Pictures.
