Three years into the PS5’s lifespan, it’s becoming more common to see games released specifically for the PS5 and other platforms in its generation. These games do a better job of taking advantage of the PS5’s beefier hardware and aim to provide true next-gen experiences for players.Baldur’s Gate 3fits that description, and according to critics, it’s the absolute best game currently available on the console.

The reviews are now in for the PS5 version ofBaldur’s Gate 3, which launched one month after the PC release. As expected,Baldur’s Gate 3on PS5has been showered with praise and has earned near-universal acclaim, giving it an incredible 97 overall rating on review aggregate site Metacritic. Only nine critic reviews have been counted for the PS5 version ofBaldur’s Gate 3so far, but it’s hard to see the score deviating too much from the PC version, which finished at an incredible 96 overall rating.
Top 10 Highest-Rated PS5 Games
Baldur’s Gate 3has good company in the top 10 highest-rated PS5 games. Second place goes toElden Ring, followed byThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition,God of War Ragnarok,Hades,Tetris Effect: Connected,Resident Evil 4,Demon’s Souls,Street Fighter 6, andPersona 5 Royal. Out of these, the only ones that aren’t available on PS4 in some capacity areBaldur’s Gate 3andtheDemon’s Soulsremake, but more PS5-only games are on the horizon.
As forBaldur’s Gate 3, the game has been hugely successful so far and its PlayStation release should only help to further cement it as one of the absolute top games of not only 2023, but in the history of gaming. And the thing is,Baldur’s Gate 3still has more platforms to make its way toin the near future. The Xbox version ofBaldur’s Gate 3is expected to release at some point within the next few months. When it does, one has to imagine that it stands a very good chance of becoming the highest-rated Xbox Series X game as well.
