Announced all the way back in January,The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners- Chapter 2has just received another gameplay trailer, along with confirmation that the game is heading to Sony’s exciting new PlayStation VR2. Being the third trailer released so far, fans have gotten to see quite a bit of the game in action, and while it maylook pretty similar to the firstWalking Dead: Saints and Sinners, that’s far from a bad thing, with the first game still being one of the best VR experiences available right now on any headset.

This trailer showcased a little more ofSaints and Sinners- Chapter 2’s gameplay improvements over its predecessor, ranging from bigger hordes, to flashier weapons, and better physics. WhileWalking Dead: Saints and Sinnershas managed to carve out a unique identity for itself, which isn’t an easy feat in the oftenoversaturated zombie genre, some fans may have spotted some similarities with another recently released zombie-slaying adventure,Dying Light 2.

Facing The Horde With Creative Weapons

The last three trailers forWalking Dead: Saints and Sinners- Chapter 2have all showcased a few key features and moments that may seem pretty familiar to fans oftheDying Lightfranchise. One of the core mechanics ofSaints and Sinnersis crafting, and while players can make their way throughDying Lightby simply scavenging weapons and consumables from the environment, they are heavily encouraged to craft in order to make the best gear, and have the best chance of survival.

InSaints and Sinners, crafting is vital to the player’s survival. Before every excursion, players are encouraged to craft some healing supplies, craft new melee or ranged weapons, and craft some ammo to take with them. Ignoring this crafting mechanic will lead the player to a pretty swift death.

One of the biggest similarities betweenDying LightandWalking Dead: Saints and Sinnersis the games' emphasis oncrafting unique and creative weapons. While both games have the standard post-apocalypse weaponry, ranging from hammers to knives, to handguns and rifles, bothDying LightandSaints and Sinnersgive the player the opportunity to craft some more interesting weapons.

Inthe most recentSaints and Sinnerstrailer, the player can be seen dual-wielding two hand-crafted machetes. These weapons bear a striking resemblance to the one the character is holding on the front cover ofDying Light 2, with a sharpened street sign being used as a makeshift blade, clumsily taped to a plastic handle. And then, much like its use inDying Light 2, the weapon is used to hack away at the oncoming horde.

The similarities between the two games goes further than just the surface-level mechanics, however, withWalking Dead: Saints and Sinnershaving a verysimilar feel and pace toDying Light2. Working on the assumption that the sequel is essentially the same game as its predecessor, just with some improvements,Saints and Sinners- Chapter 2will have combat encounters that are extremely fast-paced, and high-stakes.

Just likeDying Light 2’s zombie encounters,Saints and Sinners' can often get very tense, very quickly. With scavenging being at the heart of both game series, there’s a constant high risk/reward system in place that means every death sacrifices a substantial amount of progress. This then feeds into the games' combat, making each encounter feel like a desperate fight for survival. If fans ofDying Lightare looking for a similar experience, just in VR, thenThe Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners- Chapter 2looks like it’ll be a great choice.

The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners2 is coming to Quest 2, Rift in late 2022, and PSVR2 in 2023.
