The official website forThe Irregular at Magic High School: Reminiscence Arcreleased a promo on Saturday, revealing that it will air on December 31.
The episode will air as a New Year’s special at 11:57 p.m. and will be accompanied by a special New Year’s celebration video. Thepromotional videoadditionally revealed that the theme song, “Ripe Aster” will be performed by singer Kairi Yagi.

Theanime will adaptthe light novel’s Reminiscence Arc, which takes place during the eighth volume. Yūichi Nakamura and Saori Hayami will return to voice Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba, respectively. Newcomers Kikuko Inoue and Aya Endo will voice Miya Shiba and Honami Sakurai.
Studio 8bit, best known for their work on theThat Time I Got Reincarnated as a SlimeandGrisaiaseries’, will return to work on theReminiscence Arcanime.
Director Risako Yoshida is returning to work on the project after heading the second season andGirl Who Calls the Starsfilm. Yoshida has also directedBlue Reflection RayandDiabolik Lovers More, Blood. Scriptwriter Munemasa Nakamoto is returning as well as original character designer and chief animation director Kana Ishida.
Nakamoto has worked on popularseries such asSword Art Online,Nisekoi, andtheMonogatariseriesalongside his work onThe Irregular at Magic High School.Ishida has been responsible for the series’ character designs throughout its run, handling the art for the various manga adaptations.
Tsutomu Satō’sThe Irregular at Magic High Schoollight novel series was published in ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki Bunko imprint from 2011 to 2020. The series amassed 32 collected volumes, with 10 additional side stories. Its popularity inspired a handful of light novel spin-offs and a variety of manga, each adapting different arcs from the novels.
A 26-episode anime produced by Studio Madhouse first aired in 2014.8bit would take over productionof the series with 2017sThe Irregular at Magic High School The Movie: The Girl Who Calls the Stars, animating theIrregular at Magic High School: Visitor Arcseries three years later. A 13-episode adaptationThe Honor Student at Magic High Schoolmanga aired in July.
The light novel licensed by Yen Press, with 17 of its 32 volumes translated in English so far. Aniplex USAlicenses the series, with Crunchyroll carrying its first season and Funimation offering both.
