There are a ton of materials to farm for inThe First Descendant, but not all of them are served to the players on a silver platter. Some materials require a bit of additional legwork before they can be acquired, and such is the case for Void Shards and their containers: Void Fragments.
Void Fragments are these weird, obelisk-like structures that can be found all over Ingris. Shooting them doesn’t do much, but they can be destroyed if you know how. If you’re on a quest to unlockall the characters inThe First Descendant, knowing what to do with Void Fragments is going to be necessary.

How To Destroy Void Fragments In The First Descendant
As of writing, the only known way to destroy Void Fragments is to use Descendant abilities that match the Void Fragment’s element. you’re able to see what element you need by opening the map and checking the Void Fragment in question. For example, if you find a Non-Attribute Void Fragment, then you need to hit it with a damaging ability from Ajax or any other Non-Attribute Descendant.
Once you or a nearby player damages a Void Fragment, waves of enemies will spawn, and the Fragment itself will become invulnerable to all damage. To get rid of its shield, defeat the Vulgus that spawn nearby, and once the Fragment’s shield is gone, hit it again. Rinse and repeat until the Void Fragment is destroyed. verify to spare some mana for the Fragment.

Keep in mind that you can freely swap between your unlocked characters by visiting safe zones, such as the onesinThe First Descendant’sKingston map. To do this, enter a safe zone, then open your inventory screen. Scroll to the Descendant tab, then select the character you want to use.
If you don’t have a Descendant with a matching elemental damage type, you won’t be able to destroy the Void Fragment. However, there are more Fragment in other regions of Ingris, and one of them is bound to match your Descendant’s attribute.

What Do Void Fragments Give?
Destroying a Void Fragment rewards players with different types of Void Shards, a type of consumable specifically meant for Voidd Fusion Reactors found in each map. The reactors themselves count as events, and starting one will cause a flood of enemies to appear. If you have the right amount of the correct Void Shards in your inventory, you’ll be able to start the event. Once it’s done, the shards will automatically be consumed.
Void Fusion Reactors reward players with the usual shower of money, XP, modules, and gear. However, the most important items you can get from these events are Amorphous Materials. They don’t do much alone, but once you learnhow to open them inThe First Descendant, you’ll be able to obtain key components for the crafting of Ultimate weapons and new playable characters.
