InSuper Auto Pets,there has always been a real problem with players leaving or"abandoning"their run simply because their starting shop isn’t great. It’s understandable, as the game is more fun when getting those lucky rolls. But, it’s a PVP game, so constant run abandons can lead to issues with matchmaking or create a new meta of resetting until the first shop is perfect.

To combat this, Team Wood Games added something called the"Abandon Hat"as part of an update released in early November. To describe what the hat looks like visually, it’s basically a stereotypical “dunce” hat with a big A on it, and the word “abandon” just beneath that does a perfect job of making a player feel foolish for doing something as petty as “abandoning” a run.
How Does It Work?
To get this hat,players have to Abandon games what seems to be four or five times in a row. There’s even a dialog box that pops up when the next Abandon will give them the hat, so it’s very easy to avoid.
After that point, if the player still chooses to Abandon their run, then whatever hat they spent their hard-earned points on is taken off, and theAbandon Hat is forced onto their Pets heads from then on. And, while this hat is being forced onto the player’s Pets, it also functions as a separator so thatthey can only be matched with other Abandon Hat wearing players.
Basically, it’s like a jail system. Once a person abandons enough games, they’re sent to jail for a time, can only play with other inmates, and are forced to wear specific attire.
How To Get Rid Of It
Originally, there was no way to get rid of theAbandon Hat.And, if that sounds like much too harsh of a punishment, it absolutely is. Turns out this was actually a bug rather than a feature. It was meant to only stay on for a single run and would immediately revert the player back to their previous customizations after.

The funny thing is, while the permanentAbandon Hatbug was obviously way too harsh, this one-run penalty almost seems too light to truly stop players from abandoning their runs early whenever their first shop isn’t the best. But, only timeand potential future fixeswill tell if that’s the right course of action.
