The Callisto Protocolis an upcoming survival horror game, one many may be thinking of with the current Halloween season, and it seems Striking Distance Studios wants to show fans how the horror within it was specifically engineered. The Callisto Protocolhas gone gold, but marketing for it won’t stop for some time. And this docuseries is a unique way to do it.

Horror games, perhaps more so than any other genre, rely heavily on sensory factors, environmental details, and in-game stress to immerse players. It’s something that’s not necessarily easy to achieve, but somethingThe Callisto Protocolcertainly does. Game Rant was able to previewThe Callisto Protocollast month at an event in San Francisco, and it’s clear that it will be a real treat for horror fans. However, learning more about it before its release is beneficial for everyone.

Striking Distance Studioshas revealed that it will be launching a video docuseries on its YouTube channel (HERE), focusing on how the studio approached engineering its horror elements. The first episode, dubbed “Mastering Horror | The Callisto Protocol Docuseries,” launches tomorrow, October 27. Because of how deeply this horror engineering is tied to the game’s development process, it could prove to be an educational series with great insights into horror game development.

It’s not certain what time the YouTube video will go live, nor is it certain if there is any specific cadence planned for their episodic releases. Striking Distance Studios may reveal more in the coming days, so until then, fans should be prepared for the first episode and wait patiently for more information. No matter what, it seems thatThe Callisto Protocolhas a lot of hype ahead of its release, and this should go a long way in supporting that.

As we wrote in ourpreview ofThe Callisto Protocol, Striking Distance Studios aims to make it “the ‘scariest game’ available on PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles (despite being multigenerational), much in the same wayDead Spacewas for its initial release. Two hours can’t prove whether it will be or not, but just two hours with the game makes a strong case that it very well could be.” And with this docuseries, fans will get to see how the company sought to bring that fear alive.

The Callisto Protocollaunches December 2 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
