As of the new update, there are more opportunities to get each of these geode types. We’ve updated this guide to add all the ways to get Common, Frozen, Omni, and Magma Geodes introduced in the 1.6 update.
How to Get Geodes in Stardew Valley
The first time a player will find aGeodeis probably when they’re breaking stones on their farm. An egg-shaped item will drop with a pop-up text informing players that the local blacksmith can break open the geode for them.
Common geodes are usually obtained by breaking rocks in the Mines or are dropped by Duggies. A Duggy is an enemy found in the Mines and has a 25% chance of dropping a Geode. Besides this, Geodes are alsofound as loot in Fishing Treasure Chestsand can be received as a gift at the Feast of the Winter Star.

InStardew Valley, Fishing is another wayto acquire Geodes. When a Stonefish Fish Pond’s population reaches 9, it may produce 1 or 5 Common Geodes. For players who have not upgraded the Farmhouse, Geodes can be found in the Supply Crates on the Beach Farm.
All Types of Geodes and Where to Find Them
There are four types of Geodes:Common Geode,Frozen Geode,Omni Geode, andMagma Geode. They are all found deep within the Mines, on different levels.
Common Geodes
These egg-shaped geodes are frequently found on Levels 1-39 in the Mines. Players will need to break any rocks they find using a Pickaxe or a bomb. Common Geodes contain artifacts, minerals, and basic resources such as Stone, Clay, and Coal.
Iron Ore can be obtained from a Geode after players reach Level 26 of the Mines.

Omni Geodes
Omni Geodes are a cluster of stones with colorful flecks. These are usually located in the Mines on floors 21 and above. They can also be found in the Skull Cavern (on all floors). If a player knocks out a Carbon Ghost, there’s a 99% chance for it to drop Omni Geodes. Players can purchase Three Omni Geodes from the Oasis on Wednesdays for 1000 g each. One can bepurchased from Krobus’s Shop on Tuesdaysfor 300 g.
In addition, when the population in an Octopus Fish Pond reaches 9, it can produce 1, 3, or 10 Omni Geodes. Omni Geodes may contain a very rare gem, namely “Prismatic Shard” but it’s impossible for players to receive a Prismatic Shard before cracking at least 15 of these geodes.

Frozen Geodes
Frozen Geodes are more triangular and can be found on Levels 41 to 79 of the Mines. The theme for these levels revolves around the concept of the “Frozen Earth”. These geodes can also be found on the Farm in Winter, inside Fishing Treasure Chests, or received as gifts at the Feast of the Winter Star.
Gold Ore can be obtained from a Frozen Geode only after the players reach Level 76 of the Mines.
Apart from being found in the early Mines, Common Geodes can also be dropped by Duggies and evenFishing Treasure Chests. A few of these Geodes can also be found in Supply Crates on the Beach Farm, as long as the farmer has not upgraded their Farmhouse.
The 1.6 update expands the ways players can obtain Omni Geodes, making them more accessible. Here are all the new ways to get these geodes:
