Summary
Stardew Valleyhas received its 1.6.5. update, and with it, patch notes explaining what was changed have been released. This is just the latest in a series of updates made to the game sinceStardew Valleyreceived the major 1.6 content update in March.
Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update was a big one, adding new content, events, dialogue, and more to the indie farming and life sim. While many fans are looking forward toConcernedApe’s next game,Haunted Chocolatier, the developer keeps returning toStardew Valleyto fix bugs or add new things. While some of the prior smaller updates have surprised players by adding new things like mine layouts, this one focuses on fixing bugs for players of both vanilla and modded versions of the game.

Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone announced the new update to the game on Steam, revealing what fixes have been made in the 1.6.5. patch. The patch fixes a problem inStardew Valley’s minesthat would cause the game to crash upon loading some dark levels. Additionally, the dev looked into an issue players were having since 1.6.4. launched that would cause modded versions of the game to crash or cause saves to not load properly. According to the notes, these crashes were primarily due to villager NPCs becoming broken due to mods being added and removed. The patch resolves it by deleting the NPCs until they’re added back into the game’s data.
With a game update as big as 1.6, it’s understandable that some glitches and bugs would get through. While these patches help to ensure that players have a smooth and pleasant gaming experience, they’re also laying down the groundwork for the eventual console and mobile updates. Those updates have no release date at this time, but the developer has previously stated that he’s hard at work on them, and they’ll release as soon as possible. Getting these issues out of the way now on the PC version should help to prevent major issues from occurring when players on systems like thePlayStation and Switch get the 1.6Stardew Valleyupdate.
It’s worth noting for those still eagerly awaiting the update’s release on other platforms, however, that the game will be missing one key feature that PC players got.Stardew Valley’s multiplayerwas expanded in version 1.6, allowing up to eight players to participate at the same time. However, this particular component will be left out of the update for consoles and phones. Thankfully, everything else included in the update is allegedly coming to all versions of the game.
