It may come as a surprise to those who only knowStar WarsGalaxiesthrough screenshots of stormtroopers walking the streets of Mos Eisley, but its Jump to Lightspeed content is truly one of the deepest space sims around. For many dedicated pilots, it’s the only portion of the game they even engage in. In addition toStar Warsfan favorites like TIE Fighters and X-Wings, groups of players can also crew larger vessels like theYT-1300 made famous by the Millennium Falcon. This all ties into ground content as well, with traders dedicating their time to crafting the finest ships and components.
The volunteer-operatedLegendsserver has done an impeccable job expanding on the space sim portion of the game by introducing all-new ships and entirely original forms of content like Group Convoys and space combat in the clouds of Bespin. The team has also put a lot of effort into reworking the various ships and other space-related systems, including an incredibly useful “loot highlighting” system that shows players whether or not the part they’ve picked up is worth keeping. Game Rant spoke withStar Wars Galaxies: LegendsProject Administrator Lokee and Lead Space Developer NoStyleGuy about their plans for rebalancing some underperforming vessels.

The KSE Firespray Will Finally Be a Ship Worthy of Boba Fett
When asked about upcoming changes to thegame’s space combat, Lokee deferred to theLegendsteam’s resident space expert NoStyleGuy who broke down the game’s ships into three distinct categories: ships worthwhile for grinding to ace, ships worthwhile for endgame PVP, and ships worthwhile for endgame PVE. The team has noted that out of the 70+ ships in the game, three standouts don’t adequately fulfill one of those roles and are entirely outperformed by alternatives. One that stood out is the KSE Firespray, a ship that looks good on paper but struggles in practice.
The KSE Firespray:A strictly worse Ixiyen since they have the same number of weapons and ordnance and the same mass, but the KSE is bigger and has a horrible spread. Our plan for this guy is to buff its handling stats, add a 3rd weapon slot, and angle the “foot” gun hardpoint up so that it converges with the primary weapon at typical combat range (500m or so).

Although some players still choose to fly the KSE Firespray simply becauseBoba Fett’s ship is an iconic fan favorite, it’s typically understood to be a poor ship due to its unusual weapon spread and large size. It’s not an easy ship to acquire, either, so bringing it up to par will make that moment far more satisfying.
Star Wars Galaxies: Legends Is Showing The TIE Fighter and Kihraxz Some Love
Two other problematic ships are lower-mass vessels that players may dabble with while they’re leveling but are generally dumped as soon as possible in favor of far superior options. The TIE Fighter, in particular, has almost no place in players' hangars due to being entirely outclassed by the TIE/ln and TIE Fighter Heavy Variant. The team’s solution is to bump up its stats and treat it as a cosmetic alternative to the Heavy.
Kihraxz:A 40k mass one-gun ship that is totally eclipsed during leveling by multiple ships and doesn’t have enough mass for either endgame PvE or PvP. Our plan is to turn this into a Freelance “medium fighter,” a la the Starviper, and the recently changed (non-Advanced) X-Wing. This will mean adding a second gun and upping it to 100k mass. These ships' niche is PvP, where they are a great counter to traditionally dominant “interceptors.”
TIE Fighter:The 20k mass version which is completely eclipsed by the 97k mass TIE Fighter Heavy Variant and/or the 80k mass TIE/ln (whose niche is being a capable grinder that is cheaper to produce than the Heavy Variant). Our plan for this guy is a little less set in stone, but it likely involves changing the model to the “Modified TIE” model that’s already in the files and making it a copy of the Heavy Variant stats-wise, so players have a cosmetic choice (similar to the Freelance fleet with 3 Heavy Sycks to choose from).
TheLegendsteam’s work isn’t ending with balance changes, however. The team is chipping away at additionalStar Warsshipsto be introduced in the future, and alpha testing is currently underway for a new Deep Space Comms system featuring brand-new ships, PVP content, duty missions, and new ways to customize various ship graphics.
