There’s something special about aStar Warsfan’s first time going onStar Tours – The Adventures Continueat one of the many Disney theme parks worldwide. No matter one’s age, it’s an experience that feels like a long-dreamed fantasy becoming a reality, even for a few precious moments. Well, now that feeling is about to get even more special.
Fans of Star Toursmay want to begin planning their next trip because Disney is officially adding several new worlds and characters to the attraction’s rotation of familiar settings. This appears to mark the first substantial change to the ride since December 2019, which added the ocean moon Kef Bir fromEpisode IX: The Rise of Skywalker. Star Tours has made several adjustments and additions over the years. But this may be its biggest in a long time, thanks to the upcoming slate of content recently announced atStar WarsCelebration.

Scott Trowbridge, Portfolio Creative Executive for Walt Disney Imagineering, delivered the news via theDisney Parks Blog, and it looks like exciting things are in store. “In 2024, we’re going to add more stories and characters to Star Tours at three of our destinations around the world – Disneyland park in California, Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida, and Disneyland Paris in France,” Trowbridge explained. That’s exciting enough on its own, especially for big fans of Star Tours. But the possibilities of which worlds could show up will inspire some hot discussions among enthusiasts. It turns out that some of the many announcementsfromStar WarsCelebrationmay be part of the new additions, and that’s a big deal.
“We’re looking forward to continuing that tradition next year with all new adventures,” Trowbridge continued, “but I can’t reveal just where we’re going yet – or those we may meet along the way – because … well … some surprises are best experienced as part of the upcomingStar Warscontent also announced this weekend.” That should perk up a few ears in the crowd, especially those excited about the new announcements. Perhaps that means it will soon featureLars Mikkelsen as Thrawnin a story inspired by the upcomingAhsokaseries.
Star Tours – The Adventures Continue is the current iteration of the original Star Tours attraction, which launched in 1987 to the delight of Disneyland guests of all ages before eventually opening in other Disney parks. The motion simulator initially took riders on an action-packed virtual tour through locations from the originalStar Warstrilogy. But while the core concept has remained unchanged, the ride was ultimately rebranded in 2011 to add new worlds and stories from the more recentStar Warsprequel trilogy. Since then, it’s managed to stay up to date with the films thanks to a more easily adjustable format for the immersive videos shown on the ride.
The idea of worlds and characters from projects other than theStar Warsmovies showing up in Star Tours is deceptively massive. Until now, the attraction has kept things pretty much confined to the movies. But if this announcement means that the Disney Plus shows are fair game, then the possibilities are too exciting to ignore. Just imagine riding along asStellan Skarsgård’s Luthen Raelsingle-handedly takes out that Cantwell-class Arrestor Cruiser fromAndor. Or how about crossing paths with Luke Skywalker as he’s en route to pick up Grogu in the season 2 finale ofThe Mandalorian?Star Warsis truly the perfect universe for those who excite easily, and that’s meant in the best possible way.
Star Tours – The Adventures Continuewill begin flying to new worlds in 2024.
