Splatoon 3’s first Splatoween Splatfest has come to an end, andTeam Ghosts has brought home the win.Splatoon 3players battled to determine which would make the best friend: a zombie, skeleton, or ghost.
Splatoon 3fans have been anxiously waiting for a long time to learn if 2023 would feature aHalloween Splatfestafter the event was nowhere to be found during the game’s release year. Thankfully, the event not only returned but came back with a bang, with unique Halloween remixes of the game’s soundtrack, cosmetics for players, and a unique spooky look for the triple idol group Deep Cut, the iconic Squid Sisters, and Splatsville itself.
Early Lead
While Shiver has won numerous Splatfests in a row, it seems players were more interested in Frye and Big Man’s teams this time around. On the first day of the Splatfest, it was revealed that Team Ghost, led by Big Man, had acquired the most conch shells during the sneak peek phase. However, by the time day one was completed, Team Skeleton, led by Frye, had made it to the lead, putting Team Zombie and Team Ghost on the defensive.

AlthoughSplatoon 3players chose Shiver as Best Leaderin the last Splatfest, her winning streak came to an end with this competition. This is only the third win for Big Man so far, in comparison to Shiver’s seven wins since the game’s pre-launch testfire event.
While Splatoween was enjoyed by many players, some are already looking forward to the possibility of a Frosty Fest.Splatoon 2celebrated the winter holiday season with aspecial Splatfest called the Frosty Fest, and similar to Halloween, it featured its own unique elements, like altered music and effects in battle. There’s no guarantee thatSplatoon 3will follow suit, especially sinceSplatoon 3has additional limited-time events thatSplatoon 2lacked, like Big Run and Eggstra Work. However, the game’s developers were likely aware of how much fans missed the special holiday-centric Splatfests in 2022, so there’s a chance that it may make a return as well.
On the single player side of things,Splatoon 3’s Side Order DLCwill release in early 2024, though an exact date hasn’t been revealed yet. With any luck,Splatoon 3will show players a little more of what to expect, as only cryptic teasers have been released thus far.
