While speaking with Metro, Ruffalo discussed his lack of concern around Marvel Studios' content output and the freedom the studio gives creators to make each project their own. “It’s not something I worry about,” stated Ruffalo. “I understand these things run their course and then something else comes along. But the thing Marvel has done well is that, inside the MCU just as they do with comic books, they let a director or an actor sort of recreate each piece to their own style, their likeness.”

Ruffalo continued by drawing a comparison between the MCU andtheStar Warsuniverse, which he indicated are different in their approach. “If you watch a ‘Star Wars,’ you’re pretty much going to get the same version of ‘Star Wars’ each time. It might have a little bit of humor. It might have a little bit of different animation. But you’re always, really, in that same kind of world,” expressed Ruffalo. “But with Marvel you can have a whole different feeling, even within the Marvel Universe.”

Marvel Studios still hasBlack Panther: Wakanda Forevercoming and theGuardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, bringing the content count to seven for the year. Audiences appear to sit on both sides regarding the argument, but the studios' box office performance for the year has not appeared to suffer because of it. Both cinematic releases finished first by the end of their opening weekend, but cause for concern may sit in the higher than usual second-weekend drop-off. Nevertheless, audiences are still showing up, indicating the studio will continue to move forward with its mapped-out design.

Marvel Studios has four feature films set to premiere in 2023, includingThe Marvelsand the highly-anticipated filmAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. It will be interesting to see how audiences receive the content alongside the brand-new Disney Plus series, but early reactions hover more in positivity than pessimism. There was a time when Marvel Studios releases were limited, but the expanding universe calls for more stories to build bridges that are accessible to navigate for audiences.
