While fans wait for news aboutScream 7, they have opinions onGale Weathers’s (Courteney Cox) storylineandwho should direct the movie. Since no actors have been confirmed yet andMelissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega are no longer starringin the new installment of the popular slasher franchise, it will be interesting to seewhich characters take center stage inScream 7.
While there’s the potential for a brand new cast and a final girl who can take the reins from Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), there are also several fan-favorite characters from previousScreammovies who could come back.Kirby Reed(Hayden Panettiere) is one of the most popular past characters, and it’s possible that she could play a big role inScream 7.

Should Scream 7 Focus On Kirby Reed?
A few months ago, Redditor @Antwaun89 posted intheScreamSubRedditand asked ifScream 7should be about Kirby Reed. They explained that Kirby’s role would be perfect whether Neve Campbell returns or not. AlthoughCampbell said no to starring inScream 6, it’s possible she could come back toScream 7if she was offered a fair contract. Since both Kirby and Sidney are strong characters, it would be fun to see them together.
The fan wrote:
“Kirby is a fan favorite, people will go see Hayden & if Sidney is not in Scream 7 you at least have another route or option to go to. If Sidney is in Scream 7 this would work even more because Sidney & Kirby know each other.”
SeveralScream 7fans agreed that this would make sense, especially if Gale and Sidney come back as well. With the absence of Dewey Riley (David Arquette), it would be compelling to watch Gale, Sidney, and Kirby take on Ghostface. They each have their strengths and weaknesses and a unique history with Ghostface that would help them work together to save themselves and others. Redditor @benteye wrote, “Why not? She’s a great character and a fan fave. Would be so good for her, Gale and Sydney to team up.”

Who Are The Main Characters In Scream VI?
While wonderinghowScream 7can recoverfrom the many cast and crew exits that have happened, a fan thinks thatScream 7should be about Kirby because she could investigate multiple new Ghostface killers. Redditor @iannmicheal wrote:
“Kirby noted she tracks Ghostface killings, so we know various copy cats are happening throughout the country - however it only gets media traction when it’s connected to Woodsboro/Sidney so if the new set of killers uses Kirby to get to Gale, to get to Sidney, the story continues.”
Redditor @Excellent_Fondant_53 started another thread aboutKirby being aScream 7main characterand Redditor @ProverbialPaladin wrote, “I’d much enjoy that. I was actually surprised and slightly disappointed she didn’t do more in the sixth movie.”
What Scream Movies Does Kirby Appear In?
Kirby Reed appears inScream 4andScream VI.Scream 4can be considered the best moviein the slasher franchise for many reasons, but especially because of Kirby’s hilarious and strong-willed personality. Since Kirby appeared inScream 4, which was released in 2011, and again inScream VI, which was released in 2023, fans had to wait a long time to see her again. It was great news thatKirby would appear inScream VI.
InScream 4, Kirby is a high school student who is best friends with Jill Roberts (Emma Roberts) and just as scared of Ghostface as everyone else, although she tries to hide her feelings. InScream VI, many years have passed and she is anFBI special agentin Atlanta, Georgia. This career choice proves that she has always been clever and perceptive. It also makes sense given her history with themanyScreamGhostface killersin Woodsboro, California, where she grew up.
In 2023, Hayden Panettiere was interviewed byWomen’s Healthabout coming back to theScreamfranchise to play Kirby. After struggles with substance abuse and losing her brother Jansen Panettiere, the actor said starring in the franchise again was “coming home.” She explained:
“We saw Kirby get stabbed, but we never saw her die. We didn’t see her rescued either. She has that human trauma, and it’s changed her. That’s something I can obviously relate to.”
