Hornet_221 posted on theArmasubreddit about the extraction of one of Savage Game Designs' developers from Ukraine. The post quotes a message from SGD, grateful for fan support during this time and updating them on the situation. They explain that the developer and his girlfriend have fled their home just outside of Kyiv and were trying to reach the border of Slovakia to be picked up by other members of the company where they can seek asylum in Germany along with other members of the development team. The post goes on to explain that the developer has left everything at his old home and asked for support in a fundraiser to help him get back on his feet and back to work on the DLC.

Armafootage has even been used to pose as a real-life conflictand had an indirect hand in promoting propaganda, but Bohemia has of course stated that it doesn’t support the use of the footage in that way. Savage Game Designs has been working onArmaDLC Prairie Fire and this conflict has changed things. It’s great to see a great developer trying to help one of their own not just so they can keep working, but also so they can be safe.

Savage Game Designs was founded in 2017 and has dedicated itself to depicting accurate gaming worlds based on the Vietnam War, so it’s no wonder they were chosen to work on anArmaDLC. It’s unfortunate that anyone needs to be displaced by this world event, especially game developers andTwitch streamers alike.

Video games are usually not political, even when they depict fictional versions of historical events likeWorld War 2. People play video games to escape real-life and live in a fantasy world, if only for a few hours. That being said, those fantasy worlds need to be created somewhere, and often real-life events get in the way, such as Covid-19 in the last two years, and recently with the war in Ukraine.

Arma 3was released on September 12th 2013 and is available on PC.
