While fans may be anxious for Rockstar Games to move forward with a new project,Grand Theft Auto Onlineis such a financial juggernaut that it’s no surprise the studio is still releasing new content for it. And it seems as though theGTA Onlinecontent may be getting a little bit more interesting in the near future, if a recent rumor is to be believed.

This rumor stems from Reddit user markothemexicam, who has accurately leakedGTA Onlinenews in the past. More specifically, markothemexicam accurately predicted the announcement of theGrand Theft Auto 5PS5 port, citing a roommate that used to work at Rockstar Games before they were ultimately let go from the company. Apparently, that same roommate has said that a bigGTA Onlineupdate is planned for December, and will feature Liberty City as a new location to explore.

Not only will Liberty City evidently be making its way toGTA Online, but familiarGrand Theft Auto 4characters will be making appearances as well. If the rumor is to be believed, fans can look forward to the long-awaited return ofGTA 4protagonist Niko Bellic, with Michael Hollick once again providing the voice of the character. Niko’s eccentric cousin Roman Bellic is also going to be in theGTA Onlineupdate, assuming this information is true.

A newGTA OnlineHeist missionwill be added with the update, where players have the opportunity to earn $10 million if they complete it successfully. A variety of other new missions will be released for the new Liberty City map as well, and future updates for the game on PS5 and Xbox Series X will supposedly also focus on Liberty City.

While markothemexicam was right about theGTA 5PS5 port, fans should still take this information with a massive grain of salt.Rockstar GamesbringingGTA 5to the next-generation consoles isn’t exactly a surprise, and so it’s possible that they just made a correct guess and are using that new credibility to make fake rumors.

However, if they are telling the truth, then fans should find out by the end of the year. Adding a new map likeLiberty Citycould go a long way in injecting new life into theGTA Onlineexperience and may even convince lapsed players to double (or triple) dip on the next-gen versions, so it will be interesting to see what happens between now and then.

Grand Theft Auto 5is out now for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
