After a large patch in September, Niantic recently opened up routes, giving more gamers the option to create these in-game walkways.
A massive route has been found inPokemon GOby Reddit user chiropteranessa. The ridiculous path has a walking distance of 19,527 meters and an estimated walk time of 425 minutes. Despite those large numbers, the route titled “Noodley Labyrinth” takes place in a rather condensed area and has a description that reads “With Pokemon Shaped Meatballs,” which has raised eyebrows in the comment section of the post.
In response to the post in the r/Pokemongo subreddit, gamers have been pondering how the excessivePokemon GOroute made it through Niantics’ approval process. Some trainers are frustrated that linear routes have been pending for several weeks despitesubstantial changes to routes inPokemon GO. Niantic suggests that routes can only be submitted if they are between 0.5km and 20km in length, and while this one falls inside of those parameters, players are still wondering how to actually complete it.
AsPokemon GOrequires an internet connection, fans theorize there may have been an unstable connection, causing the route to be incorrectly uploaded. Other gamers suggest the route could be spoofed and may have slipped through the review process. Players are seeing their accountsbanned fromPokemon GOfor exploiting route features, and if the Noodley Labyrinth route is removed, the trainer could also see their account restricted.
Players are aware Niantic still has to refine the new feature, and it remains to be seen if the seven-hour route will stay in the mobile game for the long term. The community has already made suggestions onhow to improve routes withinPokemon GO. These include adding them to gyms and Pokestops directly as opposed to going into a separate menu. Niantic doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to communicating with fans, but with the recent update, it can be seen that the studio is continuing to refine routes withinPokemon GO.
