Dying Light 2players received a reason to return to the game last week thanks to the new Gut Feeling update. In, Techland focused on improvingDying Light 2with its new weapon crafting system, gear transmog, Viral Rush event, and—the most anticipated—gore and brutality effects. Now, players can brutally dismember all types of zombies across Villedor in the open-world action RPG.
In a recent interview with Game Rant, developer Tymon Smektala explained how Techland realized how important it is topay homage toDying Lightand its original charactersbecause a lot ofDying Light 2’s players are still attached to the first installment. He also revealed his desire to create longevity for the franchise, similar to other longstanding video game titles.

The Connections To Dying Light
This past February, Techland released an update forDying Light 2’s one-year anniversary. In that, they included nostalgia bundles as rewards for the Bloody Anniversary event where players could be rewarded with an outfit and paraglider that once belonged toRais, Brecken, and Kyle Crane. Each was rewarded after reaching a certain goal; to get Rais' outfit and paraglider, players had to dismember 800 enemy limbs. But now, players can now get Rahim’s outfit and paraglider in another homage to the first game.
It’s also very hard forDying Light2 players to let go of the characters they love from the first one, so we are bringing back those characters from the first game. We did Brecken, Rais, and Crane with the anniversary. Now it’s Rahim. I’m not saying there won’t be more. Maybe there will be more, but like I don’t want to spoil anything at this stage, so for now it’s Rahim.

It’s good to see people so connected with the game that they’re getting excited and nostalgic about the character… I think it also shows us how strong the first game was and how great of a foundation for the wholeDying Lightseries it was.
Dying Light 2 Working Towards Longevity
Another addition to theGut Feeling updateis the implementation of Pilgrim Outpost, which Smektala said would help achieve longevity of the game and give fans “a purpose” to keep playing. At Pilgrim Outpost, there are daily and weekly bounties whose tasks differ in complexity and, once done, players will earn Pilgrim Reputation Points, which they can use to buy weapons and outfits. A daily bounty session should take players about 30 minutes while a weekly bounty would take a player about two hours, but dedicated fans should complete them faster. There are currently 100 bounties, but Smektala said that more will be added.
If you keep providing meaningful updates to the game, the community will stay. I don’t want to compare us toDestinyor any other game as a service game, but that’s the direction in which we are going. We want to have the longevity ofDestiny. We want to have the longevity ofGrand Theft Auto Online. We want to have the longevity of other games in that space.
Fans seem to be satisfied with Techland’s effort to improveDying Light 2through new updates. The developers will also continuously listen to its community for suggestions and concerns, which Smektala doesn’t seem to mind. Fans also seem to be excited about the upcoming improvements toDying Light 2’s parkour system, and that speaks volumes for its potential longevity.
Dying Light 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
