In the world of video gaming, there are a multitude of ways that fans can show their appreciation or extend the franchises that they love. One way of doing this is through fan films likethe incredible looking teaser trailer for the fan-madeCyberpunk 2077movie, for example. Fan films are a way for people to not only express their love of games in other media, but a way of showcasing their own talents. Just recently, a teaser trailer for the upcomingThe Last of Usfan project has been posted.
Uploading the trailer to Reddit recently, user u/Lyingcat_Cosplay was able to show off what the fan film based onThe Last of Usis currently looking like. CalledProject Spores, the short video is full of quick cuts and high octane action, briefly showing the main characters and one or two infected inspired by the game. Specifically, the film seems to be based onThe Last of Us 2, with Ellie, Abby, Dina and other characters being brought to life on the silver screen.

The trailer looks fantastic, with what looks like a good budget and some excellent cinematography. The user who posted the video says the full film is likely to be around twenty to thirty minutes in length. WithThe Last of UsTV showcurrently in the works, it seems as though the original game and its sequel, with their highly praised storytelling and character development, are rife for real life adaptations, and this fan film is just one of those projects.
Of course, it’s not just films that get made. Recently, a fan made someThe Last of Us 2comic book-style artwork, capturing the ruined world from the game. With a beautifully elegant, yet wholly collapsed, world to inspire people, it’s hardly surprising that people are getting out their pens or cameras to present their inspirations in a multitude of ways.
There is also another fan film which captures the essence of the games calledStayand is a short movie that’s heavily inspired byThe Last of Us. Made by fans, it tells an original tale which is set in the same universe. While the creators say it’s not endorsed by Naughty Dog, it is a labor of love that, much likeProject Spores, showcases a great degree of talent in the fan base, and shows just what is capable when it comes to adapting a video game into a movie.
