Pokemon Unite’s brand of MOBA action has built up a steady following over the month that it’s been on the market. It’s been a very different approach for the franchise, but so far it seems thatPokemonhas found yet another successful spin-off format. The MOBA genre is one of the more competitive in the industry, so the fact that Nintendo and the team at TiMi Studio was able to pull it off so well is pretty impressive. Now it’s just a matter of maintaining a consistent level of support soPokemon Unitecan stay on the MOBA scene for the foreseeable future.
Luckily for fans ofPokemon Unite, TiMi has already shown how it plans to support the game by releasing a number of new Pokemon to the game’s roster.Blastoise will be the next addition, completing the starter trilogy from the Kanto region, and there’s dozens of other popular Pokemon to add from there. IfPokemon Unite’s roster is going to continue to expand at the rate it has been, the game could give almost everyPokemonfan a chance to play with their favorite character. While that would certainly be a gargantuan task, there are some especially popular Pokemon that would make great candidates for the roster.

Scizor In Pokemon Unite
The majority ofPokemon Unite’s roster is made up of Pokemon that are known for being particularly strong attackers in one way or another.Lucarioand Garchomp are some of the best examples of this, and one of the best Pokemon to add to this trend would be the Bug/Steel type, Scizor. Since its debut in Generation 2, Scizor has remained one of the most iconic Bug type Pokemon in the franchise, and it would have great potential as an All-Rounder inPokemon Unite. Scizor combines high speed with high attack in a way that can make it a serious threat in the arena, especially when combined with the game’s other items.
Tyranitar In Pokemon Unite
Pokemon Unitehas provided a strong array of attack-centered characters that can quickly turn the tide in battle, but this has partly been at the expense of the game’s more defensive characters. Snorlax is certainly an iconic face forthe Defender class, but ifPokemon Uniteis going to maintain a level of balance, it should look towards the powerful Tyranitar. A dual-type Rock/Dark Pokemon, Tyranitar’s status as the Armor Pokemon would make it a great candidate for tank players. On top of that, Tyranitar has a strong reputation amongPokemon’s competitive scene, and putting it inUnitewould further cement that.
Arcanine In Pokemon Unite
It’s no secret thatPokemon Unitehas an abundance of Fire types, but there’s one in particular that really deserves a place on the roster. Arcanine is one of the most popular from Generation 1, even making an appearance inPokemon: Detective Pikachu, and it would make a great addition toUnite’s Speedster lineup. With Gengar and Zeraora still terrorizing players, Arcanine’s blend of high offense and serviceable speed could do well to shake up the current meta. TiMi could also do a lot to really make players feel the effects of evolving from the scrappy Growlithe into the more capable and dominating Arcanine.
Pokemon Unitehas made a good enough impression during its first few weeks in the wild. Although there are still some concerns overUnite’s pay-to-win mechanics, the game has managed to deliver an accessible MOBA that doesn’t neglect the spirit of what makesPokemonso popular to begin with. The release of Blastoise in September will be yet another step towards expanding on the game’s ambitions, so fans will just have to wait and see if even more of their favorite Pokemon get added toUnitein the future.

Pokemon Uniteis available now on Nintendo Switch, and will launch for mobile devices on September 22.
