With over 900 Pokemon in the series, it should come as no surprise that there are a number of pocket monsters with spooky designs. From themenacing Gengarto the terrifying Mawile, there is no shortage of Pokemon with creepy appearances. Recently, onePokemonfan decided to make fan art based on another ghoulish Pokemon called Mimikyu.

Known as the Disguise Pokemon,Mimikyu is a dual-type Ghost/Fairy Pokemon. While there are many iconic designs seen throughout the series, Mimikyu has one of the more unique. Introduced in Gen 7, this pocket monster is relatively small and hides underneath an old rag that looks similar to Pikachu. Interestingly, one fan discovered that its design translated well to a real-world object.

Taking to Reddit, a user known as strife_jpg shared a picture of a piece of fan art they had recently completed based on thePokemonseries. According to the Reddit user, they were asked to create a rug featuring Mimikyu, and the results were impressive, to say the least. In the image, the full rag of the Pokemon was visible, with many aspects of the design replicated in detail. The artist even managed to give the artwork shading, making it appear as though the left part of it was in shadow.

In addition to showcasing the artwork on Reddit, strife_jpg revealed some additional details behind making the custom rug. According to the creator, a tufting gun was used to make the art. In addition, they noted that they chose to give Mimikyu a brighter yellow coloration than the one seen in the series to reflect the color of Pikachu. Furthermore, they said that they had created a number of other rugs featuring Pokemon designs and hoped to eventually complete most of the Pokedex.

Since posting this Mimikyu rug to Reddit, numerousmembers of thePokemoncommunityhave weighed in on the design. Impressively, the fan art has already amassed more than 1,200 upvotes on the platform, with many users praising the look of Mimikyu. One user commented that they liked that strife_jpg had decided to give the Pokemon a brighter yellow color to match Pikachu. In addition, some asked how much the creator charged for the rug to which strife_jpg revealed that it cost $300.

While this rug of Mimikyu is impressive, it is only one of many creations made by thePokemoncommunity over the past few months. In fact, others have been making artwork based on the pocket monster as well. For instance, another gamer madefan art featuring Mimikyyuearlier this year that saw the Ghost/Fairy-type Pokemon carved onto the front of two wooden boxes. Time will tell what type of creations starring this Pokemon will appear on the internet next.
