Pokemonis one of the most influential and widespread video game franchises ever created. Even most people with next to no knowledge of the video game industry are at the very least familiar withPokemonas a concept. Over the years, the series has expanded to various different industries outside of gaming, one of which being toy manufacturing.

Given how iconic thePokemondesigns inherently are, with characters likePikachubeing especially recognizable, it makes the sale of statues, action figures, and plush toys quite profitable. Now,Pokemonplush toys have existed for almost as long as the video game series and likely won’t be disappearing anytime soon. However, onePokemonfan has figured out a way to make collecting these plush toys more exciting.

Over onReddit, a user by the name of JustinFunNL posted aSimpsonsmeme suggesting that for every 4000 plush toys made, one shiny variation of the plush toy be made. In many ways, this could do a lot to boost the sale ofPokemonplush toys, considering that shinyPokemonare already extremely apprised by thePokemoncommunity already and it would make plush toy collectors especially happy.

There are, of course, some logistical issues that could arise from such an implementation. UnlikePokemontrading cards, the plush toys aren’t wrapped in anything that would prevent buyers from knowing what kind of plush toy they would be getting. There’s not any reason to get excited over a regularPokemonplush toy if the shiny version is commercially available alongside it. Not to mention, this could also potentially lead to scalpers buying up plush toy stock and reselling it at higher prices.

Then again, a large part of what makesPokemonsuch a popular series is the idea of collecting Pokemon. This is true of not just the games, but also the figures and plush toys of various Pokemon.ShinyPokemonplay a large part of what makes the games so exciting to play. Therefore, it doesn’t seem too far out of the realm of possibility to add something like this to plush toys.

In any case, it will be interesting to see ifNintendoimplements something like this to its production ofPokemonplush toys. The company may need to change up how it sells its plush toys, similar toPokemontrading cards, in order to make it work, but considering how dedicatedPokemonfans already are to the series, there will almost certainly be people who will want to buy something like this.
