While a good number ofPokemonBrilliant DiamondandShining Pearlplayers have unfortunately run into shiny Pokemon during the game’s tutorial — when they can’t catch them — the monsters have generally been considered some of the rarest that trainers can capture since theirintroduction throughPokemon GoldandSilver. There are some shiny-hunting methods available to make the process easier if ever someone decides to go looking, but it’s impressive nonetheless when someone manages to gather an entire party of them.
This is something that Reddit user Thy_Lubej managed to do. Without the use of cheats, Thy not only managed to catch six shiny Pokemon, but sixshiny Pokemonthey could make a good team out of, as all of said Pokemon are Eevees — or evolutions thereof — and so cover a wide range of opponent types and teammate weaknesses. While such a feat certainly isn’t necessary to make catching six shinies impressive, it still makes it that much more appealing.

After putting their party together, Thy took to Reddit to show it off, doing so by visitingPokemonBrilliant DiamondandShining Pearl’s Amity Square, a place that allows players to let their entire Pokemon party follow behind them. Of the Eeveelutions, Thy’s party included Glaceon, Flareon, Jolteon, Vaporeon, Umbreon, and of course, Eevee — though Thy plans to evolve it into Espeon when they get the chance. Unfortunately, Leafeon, the last Eeveelution of Gen 4, didn’t find a spot on the team.
To gather their team of shiny Eeveelutions, Thy used the “Pokeradar Chaining” method, which is a somewhat involved process, but it essentially sees aPokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearlplayer encountering a single Pokemon over and over. Encountering the same Pokemon multiple times in a row increases the chances of running into a shiny version of it, but this increase maxes out after the 40th encounter. Thy used this to catch six Eevees before evolving them into Eeveelutions they wanted.
Eevee’s always a fun Pokemon to build parties around since its evolutionary line is so versatile. It’s unfortunate thatPokemonBrilliant DiamondandShining Pearlonly include the 493 Pokemon available in the original titles, thus leaving out Sylveon, but maybePokemon Legends: Arceuswillintroduce a new Eeveelutionto Sinnoh, one that got lost to time along with the region’s original name of “Hisui.” If Nintendo allowed any game to transfer new Pokemon over toBDSP, it would beLegends: Arceus.
