The Pokemon Company apologized via Twitter to all of its fans who did not get the chance to purchase a product from the Pokemon Center x Van Gogh Museum collection. All the products sold out so quickly that The Pokemon Company was not able to send out an official email or post on social media to guide consumers on how and when to purchase products from this collection. The Pokemon Company stated it is working on restocking theexclusive Van Gogh Pikachu promo cardsat Pokemon Centers in the future.

People received a free promo card for each product they bought. The way to claim promo cards was broken to some fans who believed it should have been one per customer regardless of how many products they bought. In a similar fashion to the events that follow thechaotic pre-orders of thePokemon TCGClassic set, fans were able to find the card and otherPokemonproducts on eBay going for absurd prices. ManyPokemonfans took to social media to vent about how detrimental scalpers are to the community.

Some people and businesses are finding ways to fight back from being priced out of their hobby. Ashop in Japan fought back scalpers in a unique wayby requesting customers to show ID as they want to prioritize children in the hobby. Others online are suggesting that people stop buying from scalpers as there might be a chance they’ll stop if they are not profiting off of hobbyists. Scalpers are an issue for many fans of any popular hobby that is deemed profitable, and they will likely always be present in many communities.
