7Striking Back Mewtwo ~ 10th Movie Commemorations - $150
Whenthe 10th Pokemon movie was released, the company had to celebrate in a big way. In Japan, this included releasing a special set of cards that all featured Pokemon important to the plots of the previous films. Since this card was an exclusive release that only ever came out in Japan, it has become a particular feather in the cap of any collector that can track it down.
6Rocket’s Mewtwo ex ~ Team Rocket Returns - $267
As the only Mewtwo card released to make it a dark type, Rocket’s Mewtwo ex is particularly special. Then the fact that the entire card sparkles in holographic glory. It comes as no surprise that fans want to get their hands on it and will pay a premium to do so.

As gen 1 fans tend to also be extremely nostalgic for the days of Team Rocket, collectors that have this card will likely only see it increase in value as time goes on.
5Rocket’s Mewtwo ~ Best of Game - $274
While the Rocket’s Mewtwo that was released as part of the Gym Challenge back in the day can also go for over $100, it’s the ultra sparkly version that collectors and fans really want to own. It’s almost impossible to read the text on the card with its oddly dark colors but it’s impossible to deny just how amazing it looks. This is the kind of card someone could frame and put up to show off just how much they love the series.
4Mewtwo ~ JR Rally Promo - $300+
Trying to get this unique Mewtwo cardwith special e-Reader datatoday is not exactly easy, especially in mint condition. This is because they were only given away at a booth present at Shinagawa Station during the Pokémon Happy Adventure Rally which took place in 2002. As this set of cards was distributed while people rode on train lines, many aren’t in the kind of perfect condition to really make huge amounts at auction.
3Mewtwo★ ~ Holon Phantoms - $349
Despite only one star Pokemon being allowed in any given deck, this Mewtwo card has still become incredibly rare and sought after. It also features art of shiny Mewtwo by Masakazu Fukuda making it particularly unique in the trading card game.

It’s not exactly powerful forbuilding into a competitive Psychic deckwith how many different kinds of energy it has to use, but most collectors will want to put it on display anyway.

While many Pokemon fans remember the Pokemon TCG spin-off GameBoy game fondly, few realize that western audiences missed out on its sequel.Pokémon Card GB2: Here Comes Team GR!featured team Great Rocket, and it came with special promotional cards for those who purchased it. Since the game itself is already quite rare, the cards in good condition can be quite hard to find, especially in good condition.
1Shining Mewtwo ~ Neo Destiny - $461
Shining Pokemon cardswere a big part of the TCG before shiny Pokemon ever became a thing. The uniquely haunting art Hironobu Yoshida is particularly unique. With it being one of the last Mewtwo cards released by Wizards of the Coast before they no longer were in control of the game, it’s a piece of nostalgic history that demands a high value.
