TheEpic Games Store free mystery gameshave been getting the most attention, but fellow digital storefront GOG has been giving away free games, too.GOG has been given away free games in an effort topromote its Winter Sale, not unlike what the Epic Games Store has been doing. Admittedly,Daymare: 1998reviews were mostly negative at the time of its launch, but hardcore horror fans and those who enjoy theResident Evilgames may still find some value with it. The GOG giveaway means thatDaymare: 1998is free anyway, so there’s no harm in claiming it, downloading it, and giving it a try regardless of the negative reviews.

Daymare: 1998looks like aResident Evilgame because the development team behind it were originally making aResident Evil 2fan remake. Capcom caught wind of the remake, and just like the company recentlyshut down theResident Evil Code: Veronicafan remake, it put a stop to its development. The team then pivoted to creating a completely original IP separate from theResident Evilbrand, and the result wasDaymare: 1998.

It seems that the developers are hoping forDaymare: 1998to become a survival-horror franchise of its own, as a prequel has been announced in the years following the original game’s release.Daymare: 1994 Sandcastlewas originally supposed to launch at some point in 2022, but its release date has clearly been pushed back. While survival-horror fans wait for more information on the prequel game, they can claim the originalDaymarethrough GOG for free and see if it’s up their alley or not.
