D.Va has always been one of the most beloved heroes inOverwatch, both inside and outside of the core gameplay of Blizzard’s team shooter. However, a recent bug may see the tank character picked less often in competitive play onOverwatch, at least until a fix is released. How quick that fix will come is unclear, as Blizzard is no doubthard at work onOverwatch’supcoming sequel.

Blizzard may need to put theSymmetra and Mei reworks on hold, as D.Va’s most powerful ability is no longer doing its job correctly. Defense Matrix, D.Va’s shield that absorbs incoming projectiles, can sway an entire fight if used correctly and can be useless if used poorly. Lately, though, it may just be useless no matter what players do.

D.Va, even at her weakest power levels, has always seen a steady pick rate inOverwatchdue to her Defense Matrix ability. Reddit user Thorbjorn_ shows why that pick rate may finally change, however, as D.Va’s Defense Matrix looks different to the person using it than it does to everyone else.

In the clips, which show multiple perspectives of the same sequence, Thorbjorn has his defense matrix perfectly lined up with an incoming Graviton Surge. Zarya’s ultimate should easily have been eaten up, as D.Va’s view showcases a perfect use of the defense matrix ability. However, from the alternate view Thorbjorn_ provided, this was not the case whatsoever. If issues like this persist,Valorantmay continue to grow in popularityand take moreOverwatchplayers away from the game.

From the alternate angle, D.Va and her mech were staring down the ultimate, but for whatever reason, defense matrix was off to the side. The player has no idea how this glitch happened or what was the cause, making it even more troublesome as it can lead to similar lost games if not fixed quickly. They did rule out lag, however, as they noticed no lag spikes with their connection when this odd bug occurred. WithOverwatch’sSummer Games 2020 eventcoming to an end very soon, hopefully a patch is released in the coming days.

It has been a rocky few days for the game, with a recentsmurfing exploit discovered inOverwatch’scompetitive play. Hopefully, Blizzard can rectify the issues on the game soon, as they are no doubt struggling to balance updates for the original game while working onOverwatch 2.

Overwatchis now available for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
