Blizzard has confirmed that theOverwatch 2Halloween event will start on Tuesday, October 25.Overwatch 2launched in early access earlier this month, and traditionally, live service games tend to avoid seasonal events in the first few weeks of release. However,Overwatch 2is a special case in that it has replaced the existingOverwatchclient, and so it’s not starting from scratch like other live service titles on the market. Perhaps this is why fans are being treated to a Halloween event this year despite the recent launch.
Overwatchhas a long history of Halloween events, with Halloween Terror taking place consistently every year of the hero shooter’s existence. 2022 will be no exception to the rule, though it’s likely that this year’s Halloween Terror event will look a bit different from previous years. Besides the opportunity for new Halloween skins to be included in theOverwatch 2Halloween Terror 2022 event, fans will also be treated to a new version of a popular game mode.

One of the big draws of theOverwatchHalloween Terror event every year is thelimited-time Junkenstein’s Revenge mode. One of the rare PvE experiences inOverwatch, Junkenstein’s Revenge is a wave-based game mode where players choose from selectOverwatchheroes to protect a door from enemies. Junkenstein’s Revenge: Wrath of the Bride is the new version of the mode debuting this year, but details on what exactly will make it different from the original version of Junkenstein’s Revenge are unavailable at this time. It’s also unclear if the original Junkenstein’s Revenge will be returning or not, but fans should find out more information in the days ahead.
When is the Overwatch 2 Halloween Event?
In the days leading up toOverwatchseasonal events, Blizzard often takes the time to reveal some of the new skins fans can look forward to, and it’s likely that the same will happen for this year’s Halloween Terror. The downside is that these skins will only be available to those that purchase them withOverwatch Coins, the game’s premium currency. Loot boxes are a thing of the past, and so that means free seasonal skins are a thing of the past as well.
October 25 is going to be a big day forOverwatchfans in general. Besides the return of Halloween Terror, October 25 is also the day thatDamage hero Bastion returns to the gameand Torbjorn is added back to Competitive. Needless to say, there should be a lot forOverwatch 2fans to look forward to next week.
Overwatch 2is out now in early access for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
