AnOverwatch 2developer reveals an interesting piece of information about the way that Lucio’s new look works in the new game. Developer Blizzard Entertainment had confirmed that several heroes havenew looks inOverwatch 2, but fans may not have realized just how much Lucio’s look has changed.
Speaking to thePlayStation Blog,Overwatch 2assistant game director Aaron Keller says that Lucio’s look is now “dynamic” and will change with the songs that he plays.Overwatch 2players will see Lucio’s hair change color, it can glow in the dark, and the visual effects on his suit will also look different. Keller tells fans to “Pay special attention to gameplay footage of his suit changing between his Speed song and Healing song” and to also look for changes when Lucio uses his Sound Barrier ultimate. “Almost all” of the heroes will look different inOverwatch 2and Keller tells fans to expect “plenty more cool changes to each of our heroes in the roster.”

ManyOverwatchfans will be wondering if this is also something that Blizzard will do when developing newOverwatch 2heroes. Just one brand new character has been confirmed for the game and that’sa character named Sojourn. Sojourn’s design has been praised and the character’s facial markings and her hair are just a couple of reasons why fans are so excited to get the chance to play as her. However, it’s not known what sort of dynamic looks, if any, Sojourn will have. It also hasn’t been confirmed if Sojourn will be anOverwatch 2launch character.
Others will just be glad to see another new feature thatOverwatch 2will be able to offer them. When Blizzard announcedOverwatch 2at BlizzCon 2019, there were cheers for its player versus environment gameplay and it’s story, but there were also criticisms of its failure to bring something new. Some have calledOverwatch 2an expensive expansion packfor the first game and have asked why Blizzard couldn’t just release these new features as free or paid DLC.
These criticisms have yet to be completely addressed and it may be a while until doubters feel thatOverwatch 2isn’t just a shameless grab for fans' money on Blizzard’s part. The dynamic looks of characters is a start and for fans looking for more design changes than just new skins, it could be a major feature.
Overwatch 2is in development for PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One.
