Apex Legends' seasonal models have seen more and more changes as of late, at least in how they pertain to characters. In the early seasons, players could expect a new gun and a new legend with every season, but guns quickly fell off. Apex Legendscharacters certainly haven’t, but Respawn has shown a willingness to put attention elsewhere. For example, it wasn’t too long ago that the first newApex Legendsseason launched without a brand-new character, and the current season only introduced a new face instead of a brand-new legend. Revenant Reborn’s release was a complete rework of a character who had grown stale in its ever-changing meta, and while seasonal skips are not off the table (and new characters obviously), major reworks have a ton of potential.

After all,Apex Legends' new characters arguably have a power-scaling problem. If fans pit any of Apex Legends' original characters against more recent characters, it’s clear how some kits have become more involved. Pathfinder effectively did not have a passive for the longest time, for example, while his latest in this area is still, perhaps, more lackluster than some fans hoped. But if there is any character who needs a rework as significant as Revenant, it’s Mirage.

Mirage is arguably alow-tier character inApex Legendsbecause his kit is more gimmicky than it is effective. While the idea of clones is fun, it’s never really been effective. Any veteranApex Legendsplayer will see through most bamboozled easily, while newcomers will be quick to figure out the telltale signs. On the other end, it’s not like Respawn can just seriously buff the Mirage clones because then counterplay would be too limited.

And that’s not to say that Mirage doesn’t have his uses, his ability to cloak while reviving a teammate can come in clutch, but that he doesn’t fit so well into the currentApex Legendsmeta, just as Revenant once didn’t. Perhaps Mirage can be best summed up as someone who is fun to play and okay at low-level play, but the more and more experienced any player becomes, the bigger the difference between Mirage and his contemporaries becomes. This is especially true atRanked play inApex Legends.

Possible ideas to improve thisApex Legendssupport characterinclude more tactical usage of the cloak, abilities to play as a genuine escapist, and perhaps better use than his clones. After all, whileApex Legendscut Revenant’s totem entirely, Mirage’s clones are too ingrained in the character. That doesn’t mean he’s not the most qualified for aRevenant Reborn-styled rework, however.

Apex Legendsis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
