Skateboarding games don’t come around too often with the exception of games likeSkater XLorSession. Fortunately, fans of skateboarding games haveOlliOlli World, a game that perfectly blends arcade skateboarding fun with the fast-paced nature of a momentum-based platforming adventure game.OlliOlli Worldis a highly enjoyable game, full stop. There is so much to love about this game, from the finely tuned controls to the insane number of tricks to the quirky story.

However, could the game be even better? While this may be a silly questiongiven how positively received the game has been from both fans and critics, there are likely still some fixes the game could see in order to make it even better.OlliOlli Worldis a great game but that doesn’t mean it can’t receive updates, patches, or extra content to bolster the already impressive experience.

6New Modes, Locations, And Content

DespiteOlliOlli Worldbeing a fun game to play, it does feel light on game mode diversity. The bulk of the gameplay comes from the story adventure mode where players move from stage to stage, completing objectives, earning cosmetic goodies, and moving on. It’s a great story mode with plenty of depth, however, extra game modes could really help this game out in the long run.

Another part of the game that could use some fleshing out would be the actual location players skate in.The world map hasfive distinct zones but the latter three mostly feel the same. These zones are all variations of deserts and they end up feeling a bit repetitive. Adding in more unique locations such as a fantasy zone, a snow-capped mountain zone, or an amusement park zone could help make the game even more robust. Extra content like this will keepOlliOlli Worldrelevant for the long haul.

5Flesh Out Gnarvana

Gnarvana is the online area inOlliOlli World. Narratively speaking, Gnarvana is the place where the five skate gods reside and is the place all of the game’s skaters eventually want to arrive at. Gnarvana allows players to try out user-created stages with varying difficulty. These extra stages are fun but can often feel too similar to one another.

Gnarvana could be even better if it was enhanced with additional features such as more competitive modes, the sharing of player-created cosmetics, and even player-created game modes. As it stands, it’s a fun place to hang out and session for a while but it feels a bit too lifeless in the long haul.

4Better Options To Skip Story Parts

There are likely two types of players enjoyingOlliOlli World; pure skateboarding fans who want to dip right into the action and those wanting to enjoy the story adventure mode. The game offers up many vignettes where your chosen skater speaks with the other skating crew along with the current skate wizard. These segments are fun and lighthearted and keep the game moving forward.

Interestingly, the originalOlliOlligames eschewed stories in favor of pure skateboarding gameplay. WhileOlliOlli Worldshouldn’t go down that route completely, it should at least provide better options for quickly getting through the story beats. It’s possible to skip certain segments but the game could just give players the option to enjoy the game’s stages minus the story.

3Multiple Customization Loadouts

OlliOlli Worldis very much a game thatthrives off of player creation, customization, and freedom of expression. The game offers hundreds of ways to create the perfect skating avatar. From a plethora of hairstyles, tattoos, skateboards, shoes, and the like, there is something for every type of person out there, for the most part.

Plus, players are constantly given new cosmetic goodiesall throughout the story adventure mode. Depending on how many objectives are completed in each stage, new clothing or skateboarding rewards are doled out. Given the extensive nature of cosmetic flair in this game, it would be super helpful to have multiple customization loadouts.

2An Arcade Mode Would Be Great

Simply put,OlliOlli Worldneeds a pure arcade mode. Ditching the story certainly makes the game lose some of its charm and appeal, however, fans of the original games might be after this. While any stage can freely be replayed and enjoyed at leisure, it still guides up-and-coming skaters through the narrative beats.

An all-out arcade mode where players get to choose a stage, an overall aesthetic, and a stage length would do wonders for this game in the long haul. Perhaps a sort ofprocedurally generated or roguelike aspectcould help with this. The Gnarvana online mode does at least give players the option to try user-generated content which mixes up the gameplay somewhat.

1An XP Progression System

While this one might be a bit farfetched, having anXP progression system complete with upgrades and a skill treecould really makeOlliOlli Worldone of the very best indie games around. Of course, these mechanics aren’t necessary by any means, however, they would extend the life of the game and constantly give fans something to work for apart from the plethora of cosmetics.

Providing XP for tricks, grinds, and perfect landings could all go towards an overall progress meter. Once players hit a certain mark, they could level up and input skill points into a robust skill tree. MakingOlliOlli Worlda light RPG could do wonders for the gamewhile keeping players immersed.
