Nvidia DLSS support is rolling out to more PC games, and it’s finally targeting the VR library. Virtual reality games are about to get a whole lot more realistic, as Nvidia is bringing deep learning super sampling to VR games, starting withNo Man’s Sky.
In total, Nvidia already has nine titles it’s been working to bring DLSS support to, with three of the titles available to try already.No Man’s Sky,Wrench, andInto the Radiusall offer Nvidia’s DLSS support in VR, boosting both the performance of the games and the visual fidelity. Virtual reality titles are traditionally more taxing on gaming rigs, with high frame rate and visual demands, but Nvidia’s DLSS support will improve both the visuals and performance of titles that support it.

Nvidia has performed some internal tests that show DLSS support doubling theperformance ofNo Man’s Sky VRto 90 FPS using ultra graphics on an RTX 3080.Wrenchsaw a more drastic 80% improvement with Nvidia’s DLSS support in VR mode due to the new tech reducing strain. The original version of DLSS released back in 2018, but it received significant improvements earlier this year, which PC gamers are already experiencing.
No Man’s Skyis an intergalactic survival adventure that will benefit from these drastic improvements in VR, whileWrenchis a simpler mechanic simulator that is less taxing.No Man’s Skyis the larger of the threeVR games that Nvidia is bringing DLSS support to, but all three offer impressive improvements that show what a game-changer Nvidia’s DLSS is.No Man’s Skyfans who play the game outside of VR in desktop mode will still see a 70% performance boost while in 4K thanks to the DLSS support.
Virtual reality enthusiasts will need an RTX card to get the full DLSS benefits. During GTC 2021 Nvidia confirmed that theUnity engine would receive a significant updatein order to bring DLSS to more games, and it looks like this support will extend to VR titles. DLSS support for VR games is simply starting withInto the Radius,No Man’s Sky, andWrenchas Nvidia has confirmed that six more titles will receive support soon.
PC gamers who have AMD gaming rigs will have to wait for AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution to release to experiencesimilar benefits to Nvidia’s DLSS supportfor VR. FidelityFX Super Resolution is expected to release later this year, but AMD hasn’t released a list of games that will support the upcoming feature. Virtual reality enthusiasts can already playNo Man’s Sky,Wrench, andInto the Radiuswith DLSS support, but more games will get the feature soon.
