Although the game sadly never saw the light of day,Silent Hillswas undoubtedly one of the most highly-anticipated horror games of all time. Ever since the demo forP.Tdropped, fans were utterly thrilled at the idea ofHideo Kojimataking the reigns on the long-dormant franchise, especially with the likes of Norman Reedus there to help bring his twisted vision to life. Unfortunately, plans fell through, and Reedus and Kojima madeDeath Strandinginstead; however, it appears the two are far from done when it comes to working together on massive video game projects.
Talking in a recent episode of Wired’s “Answers The Web’s Most Searched Questions” series, Reedus discusses his relationship withHideo Kojima. Midway through the video, Reedus answers a question surrounding his involvement withDeath Standing, explaining how he met the esteemed game director and, more interestingly, confirming that he’s in talks to work on other projects with him in the future.

What these upcoming projects could be is anyone’s guess, and the most likely option is that Reedus and Kojima are simply collaborating on the upcoming horror project that the game director has discussed recently in a number of interviews. However, it seems to align almost perfectly with the recentrumors that Kojima might be returning toSilent Hills, with Reedus evidently being involved heavily in the original idea for the game. Reedus even admits in the video that he loved the concept ofSilent Hills, claiming that shortly after meeting Kojima “he showed me what he’d been working on and I was just blown away. The guy’s just like a super-genius.”
Obviously, this is mere speculation, and should be taken with a grain of salt, yet, there have been a lot of hints that a return toSilent Hillcould be in the pipeline for Kojima. Not only did Konami recently claim that it’s planning to reboot the franchise at some point in the future, but teases from both Kojima Productions andSilent Hill’soriginal monster designerhave led many fans to believe the possibility isn’t entirely out of the question.
If it’s notSilent Hillsthat Reedus and Kojima are working on, it could admittedly be a number of other things. Kojima has stated before that he’d love to work on aDeath Strandingsequelthat better establishes the Strand genre, while he’s also teased wanting to work on smaller projects, films, and even an anime. Whatever it is, it’s great news to hear that Kojima and Reedus will collaborate again in the years to come.
