Nintendo Switch Online will be adding threeDensetsu no Starfygames to its selection on July 12. This marks the first time that the three titles will be coming to the Western market. It’s a good move by Nintendo to introduce the franchise, as well as to provide a new experience for non-Japanese players. That is highly probable if Nintendo finally decides tobring DS games to Nintendo Switch Online. While the mechanics might be more complicated than usual due to the dual-screen mechanic of the DS, the Wii U did have some Virtual Console entries from the handheld. The Switch’s hardware may be able to run the games, but the issue of presentation may be one of the key factors stopping it.
Granted, there are many othergames from the DS librarythat should make their way to the Switch. While they aren’t as lesser-known and unique as theStarfyseries, perhaps exploring ports of DS games to the Switch may open new doors for other older titles. There are quite a few titles on the DS that could easily be played on one screen. With the Switch’s touchscreen mechanic, many of those classics could still be played on Nintendo’s current hardware.
