Over recent years, LEGO has been teaming up with a number of wackier and weirder properties in search of new, interesting sets to deliver to its fans. Recently, it delivered a number ofOverwatchfocused sets, while recent rumors indicate that the insanely popular toy company could be looking to adaptUntitled Goose Gameinto the popular world of LEGO sometime in the near future as well.

It seems that the toy brand will be visiting a different and ultimately far more popular video game property before that, however, with Nintendo of America tweeting that its biggest property is next in line for aLEGO crossover. That property is none other thanSuperMario, with the announcement coming alongside a cryptic video that seems to show the franchise’s iconic mustached plumber in LEGO Minifigure form.

Although the footage is fairly brief, it shows what appears to be a very squat Mario built out of LEGO and small LCD screen, with the Nintendo mascot’s chest donning the signature yellow question mark block from the games. The block then cycles, with a sound resembling a slot machine playing in the background, before the screen pulls up to reveal both the LEGO andSuper Mariologos. The tweet’s caption reads “Something fun is being built! Stay tuned…” indicating that fans will get to know more in the coming weeks.

The use of LCD screens on the Minifigure is no doubt perplexing, especially as it’s not a design that’s very prevalent in other LEGO sets. Regardless, it seems whatever this collaborative project between the two major family brands is, it’s going to be a brand new venture that will no doubt find an absolutely massive audience. It seems there’s no better time to announced LEGO’s partnership with the iconic video game franchise as well, with today, March 10, beingMarioday.

While seeing an official partnership between LEGO and a major video game franchise is undeniably exciting, a lot of avid fans have already used the major toy brand to recreate a number of their favorite games. Recently, a creativeDeath Strandingfan put together Mini-Figures for each of the title’s most important characters, while others have used LEGO to build incredible sculptures of Pokemon. One fan eventransformedThe Last of Us 2into a LEGO game, combining the two worlds to an incredibly effective degree. Hopefully, seeingSuper Marioand LEGO crossover will be the beginning of many more video game based sets to come.
