Nintendo’s digital presentations have not been easy to predict since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the company mainly resorting to Nintendo Direct Minis throughout 2020. Last year, fully featured Nintendo Directs came back and have been releasing consistently since February 2021. This year however, it feels as thoughNintendohas skipped many opportunities to host its usualIndie Worldevents, opting not to hold them alongside GDC or PAX West as it has in past years. Finally, after a longer wait than usual, Nintendo has announced the next Indie World presentation for tomorrow, May 11th.

Nintendo’s Indie World presentations seek to highlight a host of new independent titles coming to the Nintendo Switch soon, with a particular focus on ones launching in the coming year. The presentations have come with the reveals of major indie gems such as the Nintendo Switch release ofCupheadand, most recently, the reveal of the Nintendo Switch version of beloved indie RPGOmori. The presentations have also come alongsidemajor stealth releases like the Switch release ofChicory: A Colorful TaleandNecrobarista: Final Pour.

The existence of this presentation was hinted at earlier this week bylongtime Nintendo insider Emily Rogerson Famiiboards who simply commented “Any fans of indies in here?” in the Nintendo Direct speculation thread. Rogers has a long history of leaking information regarding Nintendo games and presentations including very early leaks regardingSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate’s existence. The presentation is set to take place tomorrow at 7am PT, which is 10am ET and 3pm BST. The presentation will be held on Twitch and YouTube as usual and is expected to be around 20 minutes in length.

One game that immediately comes to mind whenever an Indie World presentation is teased is the long anticipated sequel to 2017’s Souls-inspired MetroidvaniaHollow Knight,Hollow Knight: Silksong. The game has grown infamous for developer Team Cherry’s lack of updates regarding the title since its announcement in 2019. The game, like the original, is expected to be a Nintendo Switch timed exclusive at launch and has appeared at Indie World presentations in the past, so after 3 years since its announcement,it is possible thatHollow Knight: Silksongcould show up tomorrow. Due to the small size of the developer and the game’s ambition however, fans should not hold their breath.

One other game fans might expect to see isCuphead: The Delicious Last Course, the DLC for the beloved 2017 run-and-gun platformer which is gearing up for release on June 29th, 2022.Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s RevengeandBomb Rush Cyberfunkare also highly anticipated 2022 indie games that will be timed Nintendo Switch console exclusives that could make an appearance.
