For over two years now,Pokemon Journeys: The Serieshas been airing. These days, that is a long time for one anime to stay on TV and continue to get new episodes, and it seems like it is finally coming to an end. A new video has hinted to a climatic arc, meaning that it is likely on its way out in the coming months.Late last week, thePokemonofficial Twitter tweeted this latest video. The video shows the Pokemon World Championships, which is very likely to be the climax of the current arc of the show. It shows the main character, Ash Ketchum, fighting in a huge stadium in the championship. Both classic and new Pokemon also appear, along withdeuteragonist Gohand Ash’s other friends from the series.RELATED:Pokemon Master Journeys Part 3 Netflix Release Date AnnouncedPokemon Journeys: The Serieshas regions and Pokemon fromall the currently released games, including Generation VIII which premiered withPokemon SwordandPokemon Shield. Interestingly, in Japanese the anime shares the name of the original Pokemon anime (Pocket Monsters), and adds “2019” to the end to differentiate between the seasons (this season is actually set in 2019 as well).
Currently, there are 48 episodes inPokemon Journeys: The Series. It is the 23rdPokemonanimated season to be released, with the first dating back to 1997. This season airs on Friday evenings in Japan, making it a popular watch for the whole family, and many families likely grew up watching the show and now watch it with their own children.
Pokemon Journeys: The Seriesbegan airing in late 2019 just days after the release ofPokemon SwordandPokemon Shield. NowwithPokemon ScarletandPokemon Violetset torelease this autumn, the first main titles sinceSwordandShield, it makes sense that this anime has to reach its conclusion. Likely, we can expect a newPokémonanimated series to come out shortly after those games are dropped, especially now thatPokemongames have global release dates.
After 23 seasons,Pokemonhas not changed that much other than adding in new areas, characters, and of course, Pokemon. There probably will not be any big shocks for the climax of this season, either. But for fans that watchPokemonregularly, that is probably totally fine - andthey like seeing their favoritesover and over. They know what they have come for, andPokemon Journeys: The Seriesis likely to deliver. Hopefully, news about the next series will not be far away.
