Frictional Games, thedeveloper of theAmnesiagames andSOMA, has a new project in development. Frictional has yet to reveal the name of this new project, nor any details about it. However, it has begun putting small teasers out for the game. While technically the latest tease wasn’t put out, it has fallen into the hands of Fictional’s fans. The 30-second teaser trailer hints at what Frictional’s next horror game will be all about.
The teaser is quite cryptic, as the narrator mumbles to themselves about unclear subject matter. Most of the trailer is spent in darkness, implied to be the narrator’s eyes being closed. Beyond that, the brief glimpses of the trailer’s setting may or may not be gamplay. They’re more likely to be simple cinematics at this point. Nevertheless, the brief looks at the setting don’t provide many more tangible details for fans to latch onto, andFrictional’s new game could be anything.

“I am Tasi. I am still Tasi,” the trailer’s narrator says towards its end. Other lines include, “Don’t lose it, no no, come on,” and “I need to find him. He must understand!” Tasi must be looking for someone for one reason or another. She just seems to be losing something, perhaps even her own identity or mind. Why her eyes are closed, if thehorror trailerreally is showing her eyes opening, isn’t clear from what she says– things clearly aren’t going well for Tasi, though.
As for the setting, it’s certainly odd. Tasi appears to be in a desert of sorts, but it’s not a normal desert. There’s a dead tree among some dead bushes and rocks right in front of her. Beyond that, there’s a glowing stream of light coming from the ground. Around this light, several rocks appear to be floating. There’s also quite the storm going on in the background. At the very least, it doesn’t look related to eitherAmnesiaorSOMA.
As should be clear from the teaser trailer, it says virtually nothing about the game Frictional is working on. One apparent detail is that Tasi seems to be the name of the game’s protagonist. Otherwise, there’s little to be said, except that the game looks like it’s afirst-person game in the horror genre. For more information, Frictional fans will just have to wait until the studio is ready to share more information.
Frictional’s newest game has no release date or confirmed platforms.
