The announcement that a newFablegame is in development may have been Xbox’s biggest pre-Xbox Series X launch announcement, or at least it was until the Bethesda acquisition was made.Fableis one of the Xbox platform’s biggest first-party brands, but it’s also clear that Playground Games is going to be working onFablefor some time yet. Fans are still hungry for newFabledetails, however, which makes it quite exciting to confirm that the narrative lead forControl, Anna Megill, is now working on the game.

Megill announced on Twitter late Wednesday evening that she has accepted a position atPlayground Games. When she starts at Playground in 2021, she’ll be taking on the role of Lead Writer forFable. SinceFabledoesn’t have a release date, it’s unclear how far along the project is. Regardless, Megill’s certain to hit the ground running as soon as she arrives.

Prior to working on Control, Megill was involved with writing on projects includingGuild Wars 2,Murdered: Soul Suspect, andDishonored: Death of the Outsider. Funnily enough,Controlwasn’t Megill’s most recent project. Since late 2018, Megill’s been a Lead Writer at Ubisoft’sMassive Entertainment, the developer ofThe Division 2. During her time there, she helped create game missions, character bios, and worldbuilding. Megill hasn’t spent much more than two consecutive years with any studio, but hopefully, she leaves an impact onFable.

Following the announcement that she’sjoining Playground to work onFable, Megill provided some insight into her excitement for the project. She describes how the originalFable"holds a special place" in her heart since it came out the year she started in game development. She was able to look atFablewith a “developer’s eye,” and consider how the player’s choices influenced the NPCs around her character.

Megill also confirms a bit of information aboutFable, in a funny sort of way. She says that at first she wasn’t persuaded to join theFableteam, worried that it might be “a bunch of medieval fart jokes.” Instead, she was persuaded by the team’s “story vision.” Megill says that in her role she’ll “live in an English country cottage and write fairy tales.” She calls the position at Playground a perfect fit, which hopefully meansgreat things for both Megill andFable.

Little to no information regardingFablehas been shared publically. That it won’t be entirely fart jokes is as big of a revelation as fans have had yet. The game was announced with ashort cinematic teaser trailerhinting at a fairy tale atmosphere mixed with a touch of grim humor. For any more,Fablefans will have to wait until Playground is ready to share more information.
